Hurricane Charley had a death toll of 10 people. This recent tragedy has a death toll in the hundreds with hundreds more missing. Apples =/= oranges. You obviously value material loss far more than the value of hundreds of human lives.

Nothing I say right now is going to justify what a huge prick you are....your statement was incredibly heartless...and for someone who went through a natural disaster yourself should have more compassion for others. At least you did not lose a loved one in that hurricane. Yes you lost a dog, which is sad. But the people in Japan...lost so many lives, so many loved ones...you cannot compare your tragedy to the ones faced in Japan.
To me it really sounds like you do not care about Japan because it does not directly affect you, or your country. How heartless do you have to be to not care about all the innocent lives that were lost?
Ok so even if Japan has all the money in the world to fix all the damage done from the tsunami...can all that money bring back all the lives that were taken from this tragedy? No! Just like money could not bring back your dog from the hurricane but could replace your house at the very least.
I sincerely hope you do not teach your child how to be as heartless, self centered, selfish, uncaring, unloving and emotionless as you are....we do NOT need more people like you in this world.

This tragedy has been and will continue to effect the GLOBAL economy since, as you so succinctly stated, Japan is a top economic producer in said economy. My brother lives in South Korea and he said they weren't affected at all.
As far as the OP, there aren't enough words. I get that weeks after an event it gets draining to have 24/7 coverage. But this is very recent and if I get too overwhelmed with coverage, I opt out of reading it for a little bit. To say you don't care is disgustig.
