  I've taken it. It was not my fave, because I felt like my heart was racing when I was on it. That said, everyone's body chemistry is different. It wasn't so bad that I had to immediately discontinue it. I just switched to something that seems to work better for me.

  I did not notice any weight changes.  

  My fave for anxiety/depression is Lexapro. That has helped me without side effects for years. 

  Good for you for reaching out to your doctor and getting some help.

  Auntie is right about Lexapro. I do require a freakish amount of sleep. I need at least 9 hours.

  I have taken Effexor and Lexapro.  Effexor gave me horrific headaches which made me feel like I was hallucinating.  Not good.  I love lexapro.  No side effects, except maybe minor issues with lack of sex drive.  However, when I'm anxious, depressed and crying, I really don't feel like having sex either, so it's worth the trade-off.  I'm aware of it, and make an effort to not let if affect my relationship with DH.

  Lexapro has been a lifesaver for me.

  I am on Lexapro, and it has worked wonders for me. I am on the smallest dose-10 mg. I did have some minor weight gain issues with it-just about 5 lbs or so and I do need a little more sleep than I use to- about 9 hrs. Other than that, it has been great.

  And I noticed a difference within a few days, but for some it can take up to a few weeks.

  I took it several years back.  I loved it.  I did have the first 10 days when I started that were horrible (shaking, racing heart, inability to sleep) but after that passed I felt good. 

  I lost about 15lbs on it, but I think that's because I felt better and wasn't emotional eating anymore.

  I'm taking Wellbutrin 150mg. I'd never taken an antidepressant before. I was prescribed Zoloft and Effexor first, but both gave me severe insomnia and I went off them immediately. The Wellbutrin has been good. I've been on it for about 3 months, and I noticed a difference at 6-8 weeks. For a few days I had terrible dry mouth, but that went away quickly. I have not gained any weight at all. Psychiatric meds are all trial and error, take some time and find the one that works for you. Good luck!

  I became suicidal on it. In general I do not metabolize SSRIs very well, so I never tried another drug.
