formula leads to obesity

Yes, according to yumkid.com who thinks McDonald's is better than Gerber graduates, you better buy formula that isn't cow protein based unless you want to predispose your child to obesity. Oh and there is a recipe for baklava using frozen puff pastry sheets! Doesn't she know how horrible frozen puff pastry is for you? But this is recommended to feed your children.

Why, was the sodium wrong?   I thought it compared the fries to the meals and the meals had more.

I think you took the comparison article a little to personally. Why are you making it such a big deal? Most people who replied all agreed that everything just needs to be in moderation. I don't think anyone was going to protest against gerber.

well i mean there was the sodium discrepancy for cheerios, which is no biggie. but i wouldn't be giving my kid baklava for sure. i also don't see formula being a major factor in leading to obesity. i see parents being a major factor in their child's weight.

I don't think Matthew has been given baklava but I can't be sure.

But can someone google the sodium in the meals and then the sodium ina  medium fry and then we will know for sure?

It does. But every time I've made baklava the homey gets boiled w some other ingredients to make a syrup. I don't know if those temps would kill the (potential) botulism spores, though. ETA: homey = honey

  • Gerber cheesey pasta, chicken and veggies has 160 calories, 5 grams of fat and 420 mg of sodium. Medium fries from McDonald's has 380 calories, 19 grams of fat and 270 mg of sodium. I would have to system both are not the healthiest option.

The only reason I thought you were making a big deal out of it, is because it seems like you are trying to make the website sound wrong. I don't really care what the website says, I agree that everything in moderation is the way to go, as do you. I only shared the site because I thought it was interesting, but maybe the whole site is a load of crap! I wasn't trying to sound mean or snappy.

I think there is some research that says formula can start a kid down the path towards obesity, but there are lots of other factors included to make that a reality.  I think it's something about them over eating because of bottle feeding? I suppose that could be true of people who pump exclusively too?

I don't know, I maybe get the argument to an extent but I hate when something like formula feeding gets associated with obesity when like you said, there are so many other factors.  My neighbors are morbidly obese and their 7yr old daughter, who was breastfed, is huge.  It's what they feed her now - fast food all.the.time, cake for breakfast, regular soda as early as 9am.  It's a travesty.

    IN GENERAL.

i am making no assumption on women here, before anyone else gets offended. clearly, there are millions of women in other parts of the world with NO education that breast feed. but here in the U.S. the higher the education level of the mother, the more likely she will breastfeed.
