If you look online, you should be able to find a list of car seats that work with your make/model. We have an Infiniti G35 sports coupe and the Chicco Keyfit fits.

I have an '05 Corolla and the Graco Snugride (regular, not 35) fit well in the rear passenger side seat. The front seat had to be pretty far up, but not all the way. Our Britax Marathon convertible fits rear-facing even better than the Snugride.
I have a 2006 Toyota Matrix (similar interior to the Corolla) and had a Graco Snugride 32, which fit on the passenger side with the seat pulled up. DH is 6'4" and it would not fit in the middle with the driver's seat all the way back. A Chicco Keyfit 30 has a similar fit.
I tried (at Babiesrus) the Graco Snugride 30 and the Chicco Keyfit in my 2007 Toyota Matrix and for some reason the Keyfit 30 seemed to fit better and both my mom and I found it easier to install in there as well.
Avoid any seats that require the handle be put down and that will save you a few inches. The two most recommended seats on this site, the Chicco Keyfit and the Graco Snugride, allow the handle to be left up so they are both good options to try.
