If your LO napped in the swing....

When could you stop.  DS never napped in his swing so I have no idea.  DD will sleep in her crib at night but will only nap in her swing.  When can I expect her to start napping in her crib.  I tried again today and it didn't work.  Ugh.

Re: If your LO napped in the swing....

  • Your DD is 2 months right?

My DD Napped and slept in her swing only for the first 4 months.  then i just tried the crib and she was fine.  I used the swaddle blanket to help her since she was used to being cradled in the swing.  But yup 4 months my pumpkin slept in the swing.  Eventually no swing would work cause she was too heavy for it and it wouldn't swing anymore!

  • 3-4 months. Just keep trying. Eventually she'll get used to it! Try a sleep positioner. That helped my LO feel like she was still snuggled in the swing. GL!
  • DD napped in her swing until she was 8  months old, when she was just getting too big for it. the transition was surprisingly easy for us, but i think i let her stay in so long because she fell asleep so quickly in her swing.

  • It was a napping free-for-all at my house until they were at least 4 months, and the swing was the preferred spot for one of my girls.  As they got older I started putting them up in the crib and they took to it no problem.  I wouldn't worry at this point--if that's where she likes to sleep, I'd let her!

  • all naps were in her swing until about 5/6 months. it took a couple weeks of going cold turkey with the swing to get her to nap in her crib. she always slept in her crib at night.
  • We stopped about 3-4 months.  LO only napped in the swing too, but she got more comfortable with the crib as time went on.
  • DD slept in her swing at night and naptime until she was 7 months old. (I'm not proud of that but she's a picky girl) One night I decided enough was enough so she transitioned beautifully into the crib. She still takes her afternoon naps in her swing though, yep, at 14 mos she wants to nap in a swing and sometimes even her carrier.

  • DD napped in her swing till 15 months. Finally, I just decided she needed to be in her crib and it was a seamless transtition. We had no issues.

  • DS would only nap in the swing or car until he was 9.5 months!  I honestly didn't see a problem with it, since he needed the sleep.  We moved him out of it right before Chjristmas, since we were going to be travelling, and he did fine.

  • I moved DD to the crib for naps around 3 months and only because my mom was going to be watching her 2 days a week and she didn't have a swing.  It was a rough week or so, but once she was used to the crib, she screamed when I put her in the swing!  I would say just switch your LO when the both of you are ready.

  • DD napped swaddled, on her side, binkied, white noise, and in the swing until a week before her first bday.  We were big on the 5 S's  :)

We stopped only because we went on vacation and didn't want to bring the swing.  The transition was fine.  With two her taking 2-hr naps a day, we didn't want to mess with that!
