Still in infant carseat?

I am moving my 6 month old up to a convertible carseat.  Some people think that is early to do it.  She is about a quarter of an inch away from the height limit on the infant carseat and no where near the weight limit but I can't hardly carry the infant seat anymore so I am always taking her out of it and leaving it in the car.   My first DD was about this age when we moved her up to.  Anyone else?  Just curious.  TIA

    Why would it be too early?  Babies can use a convertible seat from 5+ lbs.  We moved Jude around 5 months.

    I moved DD at about 4 1/2 months, when I got sick of carrying the infant seat around.

    We moved DD right before 6 months.  I was tired of carrying her around.  Like pp said, most of those seats are tested for infants starting at 5 lbs.

    As long as it is still facing backwards, why would it be too early?  I say it's fine.  Asher is still in his carrier style but I think we're going to have to move him up because of his shoulder width more than anything!

    I moved DD 2 weeks ago since she outgrew the height requirement for the seat.

    I think we are almost to the point of switching.  We have to buy two more carseats though.  One for my Mom's car and one for my Husbands.  Any suggestions-they will just be picking him up from Daycare.  The nice carseat will live in my car

    We just switched to the Marathon last week because I was driving to NY and wanted DS to have more room. ?We stopped taking the carseat in and out of the car around 6 months and we would just leave it in so it was more like a convertible. ?He was nearing the height limit but he also didn't have much room on the sides and was squished in there and starting to scream. ?
