Diaper Size Q

DS is 19lbs, and is wearing size 3 diapers. We get the big box from Costco, so he's wearing Huggies.

He's a heavy wetter at night, and the past 3 mornings he's woken up soaking wet from his knees to his elbows. DH does change his diaper at 11pm before he comes to bed, and DS usually sleeps from then until 6am (sometimes wakes up at 1am for his paci), so obviously it's not bothering him much, but I still don't like the thought of him soaking wet.

I'm thinking of trying size 4's at night, but then if they're too big, won't he leak out the sides?

Does anyone else do this and does it work? Or are we better off sticking with the size that fits and just getting a pack of overnight diapers?

Thanks.

  • I forget who it is but they make "overnight" diapers. DS is in them and we have had maybe 1 or 2 accidents since we started using them in Oct. I buy the size he is in now. Size 3

Awesome. Thanks! I'll start there; I know Huggies makes overnight diapers.

  • I would just try the overnights (Huggies makes size 3, I think Pampers start at 4).  I would think if the diaper is too loose it would still leak.

That's exactly what I was thinking as well. On one hand, having the extra absorbent material  in the larger diaper makes sense, but I figured if it didn't fit him snugly, the pee would just seep out the sides.

    Overnight diapers it is!

    Thanks, ladies.

  • We use Huggies Overnights for both kids and they work really well for us. My daughter is 20 pounds and wears a size 4 during the day and size 5 at night. It shouldn't leak through the side if you pull the tabs closed enough.

  • Try overnight diapers.  Huggies has them.

  • DS has been in size 4 for awhile (he was even in 5 for a few weeks).....but he wears size 5 huggies overnights to bed....they don't leak for us.  DS1 wears them as well.

  • Huggies Overnights are WONDERFUL!!! My twinkies are also in a size 4 at night...but are in a size 3 in the day. We rarely have leaks...

  • Pampers Baby Dry- pamper's overnight diaper, rocks.  It doesn't contain drymax (I knjow some are opposed)...  In fact- we use them all the time.  But, at night DS sleeps 11-12 hours straight.  That diaper weighs a ton when he wakes up, but he's NEVER leaked.  He is 21lbs/27" and wears a size 3.
