The Trophy vs. Royale in FFFC made me wonder why people prefer their cupcake place of choice ... I have only had both of those once, and they were both good. I liked Royale's cake and Trophy's frosting. Some may say that makes me a fail. Hee.
I personally love Hello, Cupcake, down here in Tacoma. The cake is great, the frosting is great and the prices are reasonable. Their carrot cupcake is insanely good.
Re: Cupcake throwdown ... Come on in!
I have no opinion on any of those cupcakes but I thought this would be another good time to say, U of A, U of A
I like Trophy better than royale, and I love Hello, Cupcake. I also used to love Indulge cupcakes the best before it burned down..
Unable to even.

Ha, I guess the battle is on then! I am not a Hello, Cupcake fan. Cute store, blah cupcakes. Trophy cupcakes all the way. Man the frosting is to die for! ::drools::
In all honesty though, I never pass up a cupcake :P
Colin Firth would be tasty covered in a lot of things...or just naked.
I've had both, and I'll eat both.
When CR first came out, their cake was too dry. They reformulated and it's much much better now.
When I eat a CR cupcake, the frosting to cake ratio is great. When I eat a Trophy cupcake, there is WAY too much frosting, AND the cake is too crumbly. I have to eat it over the sink.
My preference is a CR "Royale with Cheese" or a "Salted Caramel."
If I'm going to Trophy, my absolute fav only comes around twice a year: Chocolate Guiness Cupcake with Bailey's Irish Creme frosting?!!
YES, please!
One more thing, Trophy has the cutest cupcakes. But CR still wins,
Cupcake speech, over.
yes!
What we need is a party bus to take us on a cupcake extravaganza! We could hit all the local cupcake places and take a vote at the end...
The 2 in Snohomish, a grocery store perhaps, Royale, Trophy, New York, and Hello, Cupcake. There is a new one in Stanwood too....
Thoughts?

I totally Agree!!! They are the best. Well, the cupcakes and their coconut cake is to die for!
that sounds fun! Here is a pic of me scarfing down some cupcakes last month.
ETA: notice how I'm the one shoving it in my face. LOL
Cupcake GTG, FTW!
I will bake and bring CR!
all i have to say is I love you and f*ck yes ASAP.
I've never had a store bought cupcake...is that horrible?
If there's a GTG, I'll fix that immediately. Otherwise I'll remain a SBCCV (store bought cup cake virgin)
I think that they both have their merits.
Trophy's lemon cupcake is wonderful. The Royale with Cheese, to die for. But the true test lies in simplicity: Trophy's Vanilla Chocolate pales in comparison to CR's Kate. Same concept. But one clearly defined winner. Trophy's vanilla buttercream tastes like fancy shortening based frosting from the grocery store, whereas CR's buttercream tastes likes Gramma's been whipping that sh!t all morning from farm-fresh creamery butter. YUM. I want one.
Plus, I am throwing a shoutout to Little Ray's Bakery in West Seattle and their delectible cuppy cakes.
The only Easter Bunny I can get behind.

This all the way!
FWIW, I'm a Trophy gal. I love me some frosting. In fact, I could pretty much care less about the actual cupcake a lot of the time.
Fo Sho! I will bring Irish Car Bomb cupcakes. Boozeycakes? yup!
And thank you to whichever bumpie that was last year that posted the link! They are my go to dessert!
I haven't read all the cupcake stuff below yet, but I wanted to make sure that Costco cupcakes were represented. Hands down - the best!
I don't like the frosting on Trophy or Cupcake Royale. It tastes like a stick of butter. Blech.
Yes, please!
Trophy are my favs but I haven't had CR in a while or any of the others mentioned. I also like Common Ground cupcakes in Renton although their variety is lacking.

My girlfriends and I have been talking about doing this come spring, and wrap it all up with purse designing at Laura Bee in Ballard, followed by drinks and appetizers.
As far as cupcakes go, my fave is the Samoas cupcake at Trophy. :::drooling:::
I had something once at a party, but don't know where it was from. (maybe I actually had 2 of them
)
Otherwise I've gone into a couple stores, looked at the prices and went home and baked some from scratch.
My absolute favorite place for cupcakes is the Bellingham Farmers Market. Icing on the Cake has the best cupcakes I've had in Washington.
I bought the Cupcake Royale groupon, and they're okay. I think the flour they use affects the density of the cake. I prefer bubbles or holes in mine so it's lighter. I end up having to ration my frosting so there's enough for the cake. Hence, my idea cupcake has both cake and frosting that stand on their own. This is one of the reasons I love Icing on the Cake so much.
Trophy has more of the cake consistency that I like, but I've only ever had their minis. I went back for seconds and thirds though and I'm a bit sad I missed out on that Groupon. That said, the salted caramel at CR is my favorite.

Everyone brings cupcakes - homemade and storebought and we do a taste testing. Yum!
(I'll bring the Icing on the Cake ones)

Sounds fun!
I like both Trophy and CR. I love the Salted Caramel at CR, but I feel the cake to too crumbly, I have to eat it over the sink or a large napkin. I love that both shops have different flavors, always something good to try. I will eat both!
I have also tried both Snohomish shops and the new one in Stanwood.
I've gotta love a gal whose first reaction is to look for a cupcake grading system

I'm only legally allowed to say I love Trophy cupcakes, they are the yummiest cupcakes in the area.
(Ok really, I haven't one I liked that much anywhere). But SIL is the accountant for Trophy so I get *cough* free *cough* ones all the time.
They are good Kace, I loved them when you made them at a GTG.
CR > NY Cupcakes > Pinkabella > Trophy
I like the ethics of CR (local sourcing, etc) and they have the best flavors (mmmmmm lavender cupcakes). Trophy is fine but I find that the taste is overly sweet and fairly flavorless. NY and Pinkabella fall somewhere in the middle.
