FFFC

I can't believe it hasn't been started yet!!  Let's hear 'em!!

I get annoyed when questions are asked on here that could be answered by a simple google search.  The internet is a wealth of information - use it Yes

And yesterday I had 2 dinners followed by 2 servings of ice cream.  Lol.  Grow baby grow!

  • A woman at my work (a manager but not my manager) told me I shouldn't be drinking Diet Coke. I said "I didn't know you were a doctor, my regular doctor says I can drink it but I will tell him you say it's not OK" and I think she got the hint. Another lady said I was being rude but I really don't care, I really hate being told what I can and can not do by people who are not medical professionals.

This drives me crazy.  No one has said anything this time around, but when I was pregnant with my first a woman in my office (different office than where I now work) walked by me one day while I was eating my lunch & having a coke & said "I REALLY hope that is caffeine free!" and looked appalled when I said that it was not.  I'm sorry, did I miss the part where you're the one carrying this baby around??

I was buying a Dr. Pepper the other day and some woman told me that I should not be drinking that!!  My response is that my Dr. is fine with it in moderation.  She continued to tell me that my baby was going to be abnormal and my baby's heart was going to explode from the caffeine.  I came very close to punching her!!

  • Someone mentioned this the other day on this board but I have to say I hate when people tell me how my life will change and I will have no more freedom, sleep, or any sort of life.  A good friend of mine just told me today how miserable I'm going to be and I asked her why she had more than one child if it sucked so bad.  Her response was "oh, it's wonderful and fulfilling but tiring".  I just hate it when people tell me how miserable I will be.  It's so frustrating.

I love it!  I was at the coffee station at work getting some coffee (1/2 caff no less) and a lady said "should you be drinking that?" with disgust in her voice.  I was in such a bad mood and just said, "YES, I should be be!" and just walked away.  WTF is wrong with people?!

  • I think maternity pictures where the daddy has his shirt off are cheesy.
  • Apparently I'm tacky...Because I think this is a smart move:

    Clicky

Having people put the addresses on thank you envelopes saves the mom-to-be tons of time trying to dig around, find an address and then take the time to write it out, where as it would take the person 30 seconds to write out the address (that's on the top of their head). It's one thing if M-t-b is on bed rest and has loads of time to do it, but I know it took forEVER to get all that information and to write it all out after the bridal showers and wedding.

    Maybe I really am tacky...I don't know...I think it's smart.

  • I guess I'm ungrateful, because I think baby shoes are pointless, heck I think most shoes are pointless (i'm not a hippy, just simple ha) I would wear my chacos and flip flops year round and with everything if I could get away with it... and yet, EVERYONE keeps buying my unborn child shoes!...He already has more pairs of shoes than me. gee thanks?
  • I have a 4 year old picture as my fb profile pic (pre-babies lol) Embarrassed

I've had the most heinous gas lately.  We were having dinner at the IL's last weekend and I had some terrible gas pains, so I waited until everyone left the room and let it fly (I was feeding DD, so couldn't excuse myself).  Of course my MIL walks right in and I completely blamed it on DD, I was like "what did you do, silly girl??!".... it was my first reaction, poor DD!! Embarrassed

I LOVE THIS!! *high fives* I'm so sick of all the advice/comments/know-all crap from people (when it's not asked for). It's even worse for me now that we are in the middle of buying our first home AND being pregnant. Two things that everyone think they know EVERYTHING about and think we know NOTHING about.

I am so tired of people reminding me that I will be on maternity leave right before our convention.  I am so sorry I didn't plan better.  I should have only had a baby right after convention.  You didn't say boo when my male coworker was out for two weeks before last year's convention because his wife had a baby even though I picked up the slack.  I guess the fact that I will be out longer since I actually give birth makes me a terrible person.  My apologies Confused

Also, if one more person says "you never know' when I tell them I am having a girl, I will scream.  It was pretty darn clear on the ultrasound that there were three lines and nothing else so yeah, I am as close to 100% sure as I am going to be.

According to my doc I can't get that until AFTER the baby is born. There are a number of vaccines you can't have while pregnant. Right?

"Whooping Cough" = pertussis (usually comes as Dtap or Tdap, meaning also with tetanus and diphtheria vaccines in there too)... you initially get them when you are young, but it is suggested that you receive boosters every 10 years (most people just get them if someone they know gets whooping cough or they stepped on a rusty nail - tetanus)

    Hope that helps.

My confession: I am a nurse and I didn't even get the flu shot this year  Embarrassed  I read lots of research that said the H1N1 vaccine in the normal influenza B vaccine increased the risk of miscarriage... and well, that scared me enough... I just wash my hands and stay away from anyone with productive coughs (& cross my fingers that baby and I stay healthy)

  • Ooh, I've actually got one this week! I waited and waited forever to feel the baby move and kick. Now that he does, he's super active, and sometimes it annoys me. I have a hard time focusing at work when he does that and I want to tell him to stop moving for just a bit. And then I instantly feel like a horrible mother. :(

Not the same thing but along the same lines... DH has a great sense of humor and I do not, at our anatomy scan for baby #2 they determined it was a boy... The week before delivery I wanted to play a joke on DH and asked my OB if he would announce "it's a girl" when the baby came out (he agreed).  The morning I was induced the OB went one step further and said, "well when we had our DD the doc said it was a boy, but that was just the umbilical cord in the way, so you never know" .... that combined with the "it's a girl" upon delivery short circuited my husbands brain... it was priceless :)

  • Re: caffeine-  I work at a clinic and one of the clinicians was running out for lunch, so I asked if she'd grab me a coke. I'll have a can of coke, or sometimes a 20 oz, most days because it's well below the max recommended amount of caffeine. She  came back with a HUGE (40 oz, maybe?) fountain drink from a fast food place. I was seriously laughing to myself. She specializes in women's health and has two kids herself- she knows what is and isn't safe for pregnancy. I just think about how many stories I hear of non-medical professionals freaking out over a can of coke. People need to keep their non-professional opinions to themselves!

If anyone is curious, I didn't drink the whole thing, because (personally) I like to limit my caffeine take more than that. I thought it just goes to show, though.

As far as my confession, I'm going to have to hop on the horrible gas train. It's so painful, too, that I really can't keep it in. My poor coworkers/dog/husband!

I also confess (even though this is getting long) that I applied to transfer clinics and was worried my boss would take it personally. She didn't, but the truth is it kind of is. She's a great person and I like spending time with her, but she can be frustrating to work with. I have a friend I'd get to work with at the other clinic and it would be lower stress for me, so I'm really hoping I get to transfer.

I just spit water all over my keyboard. Along those lines.. before I got engaged I never wore rings. I mean I had them, but couldn't stand for them to be on my fingers for very long. After I picked out a setting (yes, I picked out my setting) I started wearing a class ring while I was in the car just to 'get used to it'. I told my fiance (now husband) afterward that I 'practiced' wearing a ring and he was both entertained and embarrassed for me.  Oh well, I'm not the one that plays with my ring every single momentum of every single day.. he is. :)

  • I went "shopping" yesterday at my friend's sister's house.  It's her spare house (they have 4 houses within 20 minutes and barely live in even one of them and she buys things and never uses them nor returns anything, so it sits unused with tags on, then donates it later because it's taking up space) and they are now planning to rent it out.  She has two kids now in elementary school, so I was told it was ok to take whatever kid stuff I wanted since they haven't lived in the house in two years and likely wouldn't play with anything there anyway.  I scored a nearly-new children's library of books, educational toys, etc.  I'm going back on Monday and now am going to go "shopping" in her shoes.  I'm really hoping she's too busy this weekend to continue working on cleaning out the house!

  • I feel like some babyproofing methods go too far, but that might be because my SILs are babyproofers. One of them keeps sending MH "tips" on what we should and should not do. Do I really need to spend $37 on a single specialized crib sheets that won't get loose because traditional crib sheets may be a suffocation hazard? No thanks .. I'll be just fine with my $12 sheets and when they look loose, I'll just tuck them right back where they belong. Problem solved!
