As long as your remove them before LO is old enough to reach up and grab them. Babies love to put things in their mouths. You may walk in to your LO eating the paper...LOL.
love them!! just lift them out of reach as LO gets bigger. I did not want to go with the stuffed animal mobile that I see at the stores. I made one with a bunch of cut out leaves from decorative papers. I'll PIP when I get home. It looks like tree branches.

I think they are way cute but from a developmental perspective (which is why mobiles exists, or should) they are pretty pointless to a baby. I also feel this way about the plushy stuffed animal ones too.....this is opinion is a hazard of my job....
I love it, way more eye catching than a regular stuffed mobile. I had an airplane stuffed mobile in my DS's nursery and he could have cared less about it. He loved his fisher price aquarium that attaches to the side of the crib waaaay more, so I'm skipping the mobile this time.

I agree with this. Could you do those and then put a fishprice aquirium thing on the side, for developmental purposes?

I was curious about the developmental side of the arguement too. I probably will get the FP aquarium. MY neice didn't care about her mobile either. Yes, I will make sure I move them up as LO gets bigger so they don't eat them lol.
My doctor suggested to us that instead of getting a mobile to use the Fisher Price Aquarium and also they make another item (not sure exactly what it is called) that projects shapes and such onto your ceiling. He has a 9 month old at home and said she absolutely loves both of these and she will just lie in her crib and watches them keeping herself occupied.

I have been planning on paper lanterns instead of a mobile as well! I am pretty sure if you look at the box a mobile is only good for the first 6 months or something silly like that. I agree om the hanging higher part though as well...
I know IKEA has a few lanterns in stock but for lots of colors and sizes check out www.lunabazaar.com- I ordered from there for my wedding and was very happy!
