In fairness, you asked the question. I also read your earlier post in which you used the word, and I thought regular posters were pretty kind in pointing out that others might not like it-- all with the intention of keeping you from being snapped at. I agree with you that posters around here can be pretty persnickity, but you wanted to know why. You were told that "prego" sounds juvenile to some-- that is why.
I agree with the PP who said that "AF" sounds similarly juvenile (as opposed to "period," or, if you prefer acronyms, "MF" or "MP"), but it is, for some reason, the preferred term. I've always found that curious, too.
If this explanation doesn't help her, I don't know what will...
Oh you guys, this is not MUD, just a newbie with an over-reaction. She clearly didn't realize what she was getting into here, but she seems like she gets it now. I don't think she is anywhere near as bad as Kaydensmommy, and OP, you are smart not to admit to anything. Consider this your initiation, and thanks for providing a little entertainment.

I don't personally find it offensive or stupid. FWIW, prego was slang for pregnant for 2 or 3 decades before Prego the spaghetti sauce came into being.
Prego as slang = 1950's (annoyed I can't find the link now, but there was a site linked at one time on this board which traced the use of the term prego back to the 50's)
I don't find it offensive. I just prefer to say pregnant, but I'm not going to bite someone's head off if they say preggo.

Maybe someone already brought this up, but I'm too sleepy to read through 4 pages of comments lol.
I actually dislike the word pregnant, it sounds ugly and awkward to me....doesn't roll off the tongue nicely.
