2nd Trimester

Too early for quickening?

I thought I had been feeling the baby move for at least the past 2 weeks. It feels like "pop pop pop" in my belly. Right where I find the baby's heartbeat w/ my doppler.

I told my mother this and she said "that is just your imagination, there is no way you are feeling the baby yet."

I was disappointed. What do you guys think-- am I wrong? Or is my mom?

Re: Too early for quickening?

  • It's very likely.  I've been feeling baby since week 13 - and it's definately baby not gas thankyouverymuch.

As far as anyone bursting your bubble like that - don't listen to them.  Seriously.

  • I was almost 18 weeks when I felt baby move. Very subtle feeling. Like a bubble pop or soft flicking.

I wouldnt dismiss it. It could very well be baby

  • In my baby books I've been reading, you should feel the baby kick anywhere from 16 weeks to 22 weeks. So, I would say that you are far enough along to feel some small movement! I can't wait until I experience it as well.

  • I would say totally possible is baby

  • I asked the OB yesterday if it's possible that it's baby for me as well.  He told me it's absolutely possible.  It's a great feeling isn't it?!?

Just think, if this is your first, the next time around you can possibly feel the next one even earlier.

  • I started feeling for sure at 17 weeks.
  • I don't think it's too early. I've been feeling the same thing with about 2 weeks as well. Now I'm just looking forward to those first tiny little kicks. Such an amazing feeling.
  • I started feeling baby occasionally around 16 weeks, so I think it's quite possible.

  • I never actually felt flutters, but I started feeling tiny kicks at 16 weeks 5 days.  My MW says it's not unusual at all, since I started out so thin.

  • I first felt DS at 16 weeks, an DH could feel by 20 weeks so don't listen to your mom, she just probably doesn't remember!

  • I started feeling the baby right before 16 weeks, it felt like a flutter/muscle spasm.  I burst my own bubble, until the girls at work told me that it was most likely the baby moving.

Just stay on the look out for it and it will become one of the best feelings in the world!
