Freaking Out about lack of "stuff"

Admittedly, money is very tight in our house right now. We just picked up and moved for a new job (that would eventually be better for me, my husband and our baby) a few weeks ago and between moving expenses and getting a new place.. there isn't much extra.

I am a chronic overthinker and have been FREAKING OUT that between all this I don't have much for the baby yet. I know money will be better in a few months.. but I want it done now!

Everything I have for the baby fits in one cardboard moving box right now- about 150 diapers, a few things of baby wipes, about 4 outfits, etc.

When do you all plan to buy everything? Make me feel a little less crazy and unprepared haha! i feel so guilty right now and like im already a "bad mom"

I'm shocked you have diapers already! I think you're doing just fine... considering your baby won't need to poop in one of them for another 6 months!

1. i'm superstitious

2. i want to see what i get at my shower before making a commitment. plus, hubby and i are team green but if he succeeds in changing my mind that might up the buying anty. i was laid off so i feel ya on the poor thing.

We pick up a pack of diapers when we get groceries each week. $10.00 isn't that big of a addition to the grocery bill and I figured id make a big difference down the road when the baby comes.

Do you think your family/friends will throw a baby shower for you? I know you get a LOT of what you need @ one. My mom is throwing me a baby shower this June...people often buy the big ticket items there.

If not people really do buy a LOT of gifts when you have the baby regardless. I'm sure your families will help you out to some extent.

Also I do feel that a LOT of things are not necessary . . does junior REALLY need a wipes warmer?

Also get things as you need them. When they 1st come home they don't even need a crib yet. You can get a co sleeper, bassinet, or a pack & play. then get things as the baby gets older so @ least its not a lot of $ @ once

Also Craigs list is an awesome resource for a lot of used baby items. My brother bought my niece's entire bedroom set on there...checked it out ...from a clean house,safe & it great shape!

With my son who was born in July we didn't even START shopping until we found out the sex (early april I think). We did the baby shower(s) in May, and then started buying the rest after that. We didn't finish the nursery until the end of June, and really we added stuff to it after he was born. He slept in our room for the first 3 months anyways. So I would say relax- don't panic, and the fact you have diapers means you are way ahead of where we were.

FIrst of all, take a deep breath.

Second, you have at least 4 months before you need to be worrying about this. That is A LOT of time to stockpile some money. You'll get gifts from people too. Keep in mind that babies don't actually NEED a lot of the stuff we think they do. They really don't. All you need to bring that baby home is a few clothes, some diapers, wipes, a carseat, possibly some bottles/breastfeeding supples and a place for the baby to sleep. Seriously. You don't need a million toys and blankets or a bouncy seat or any of that.

Also, you can get a lot of the bigger items like swings and stuff on craigslist or at rummage sales in good condition for not a lot of money. It will work out. Don't worry right now!

we have nothing and someone told me today to not buy a lot of things. DH said not to worry if we don't have everything b/c everything is one click away on amazon.
