reading all these posts in third tri and on this board got me thinking that there are a lot of you that are already dilated and having bh if not real contractions. and i still have not felt a BH yet, not that i'm aware of and as of last week i'm not dilated. makes me think of hoping that LO would come a little early will not be happening , she will probably sleep in a week

#2 due July 19th! (It's a boy!)
i've had 2 internals so far with a 3rd tomorrow. so far the doc hasn't said anything about me being effaced or dilated. last week i asked her if we'd make it to march and she's like "oh yeah that kids way up there. not coming any time soon". which was a relief to me (i'm not ready).
as far as i know i haven't felt any BH. i've just now started to get crampy, but like PMS cramps not period cramps. and i really think its more related to constipation than anything else.
well i have BH sometimes.. but not as much as everyone else on here posts and stuff, and i havent had any contractions. but as far as being dilated i dont think i am, but i havent had my appointment yet. i go thursday but im not exactly sure if its going to be my first internal or not. she never said anything so im guessing its not she will probably wait till 36 week appointment.
but good luck.
It means nothing! Last time I never noticed a BH. I went into labor the day before my due date. When I got to the hospital, I was only 3cm and I still delivered 8 hours later.
You can walk around dilated for weeks or go from 0-full in hours. Not everyone notices BH. Neither means anything about when your labor will happen ;-)

Im not sure if this is your first LO or not but with DD I didn't have any BH or real contractions and when I was induced at 39 weeks I had absolutely no progress. The doctor even joked they would need dynimite to get her out. My induction however worked great, and it was only about 8 hours after the pit. was started. The 16 hours of cervidel before the pit. were the annoying part. So i was completely shocked when the OB told me yesterday I was 3 1/2 cm. I have had a ton of BH this time, they started around 28 weeks, but i just assumed since DD had no progress at 39 weeks this one wouldn't have anything at 38.
that would be awesome. when i was in L&D for my bp apparently i had 2 real contractions and didn't feel those either. so i probably am having bh and don't know it
I had an internal when they did my GBS test at 36 weeks and I was not dilated at all. I've felt very sporadic BH contractions in the last 3 days or so but nothing really before that... had one day where I had two that were somewhat painful, but very few compared to what I've heard many others talk about. In fact, sometimes I'm not sure if it's a BH or just LO sticking his little butt out and making my belly harder.
A co-worker of mine told me that when she had her second daughter, she never even had any contractions. She kept getting charley horses in her legs and finally went to the doctor to find that she was in labor... apparently the position of the baby made it so that she couldn't really feel the contractions. I guess everyone is different!
