I wouldn't normally tell people quite this early, but we are asking that everyone pray that this pregnancy is healthy. Max's condition was a fluke, but its still nerve wracking. I am also at an increased risk of high blood pressure and protein in my urine from only having one kidney. I am also at an increased risk of uterine rupture from the vertical cut that was made during the open fetal surgery. With that said, please pray that all goes well and that we are able to experience what it's like to have a "normal" and healthy pregnancy and more importantly a healthy baby.

PS: Be prepared for first time mom type of questions. The first 20 weeks of my pregnancy with Max are quite a blur so I feel like this is all new to me. Plus, we have never brought home a newborn before

Also, as a comfort, I had a lot of kidney problems when I was younger and had to have a couple of surgeries. They monitored that pretty closely when I was pregnant and I never had problems, so I am hopeful that the same will be true for you. The human body is so resilient, and here's to hoping that your one kidney is more than up for the job!
