Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How much solid food is you LO eating at one sitting?

I had been doing 1/3 of a container of baby food whenever I feed DD her baby food.  But a few days ago she ate 2/3 of one and then last night she ate the entire container of bananas.  It just got me thinking, maybe I was not giving her enough all along. Maybe she is big enough to eat that much solids.  Plus usually she takes at least 4 oz of formula right after.  How much solids does your LO eat?

  • Their main source of nutrition should be formula. You're basically just getting her used to the tastes and textures of solid foods right now.

  • My DD will eat a whole container also if I let her. but for now I only give her a 1/2 a jar.

  • I would feed her the formula first and then whatever solids she wants after that. That way you know she is getting the nutrition she needs from the milk.

  • I breastfeed and am doing baby-led weaning. I always nurse my DS right before, but then offer him his solids. He will eat everything I put infront on him if I let him. He is only supposed to be eating for practice right now, so I try to only give him a tiny bit. I give him a few small pieces of softened apple or just a small chunk of banana.  I actually had some leftover today and took it away and he got SO MAD. That said, this is all new to him and I would rather he not get constipated.
