WWYD re: selling to family

I told my mom I was selling some gold jewelry.  She asked what and freaked when I said one of the things was a really nice necklace an ex gave me (one before meeting DH, 13 yrs ago).  I love it too and even wore it years into our (DH and I) relationship.  But then DH bought me a new necklace and I wear that.  She told me to find out how much they'd give me and she'd buy it from me.  Said she doesn't have a gold necklace that she likes and would love this one.  I would have no problems with her wearing it.  They said they'd give me $245 for it.  Which would help with something we need to pay off.  DH says he feels weird selling my mom something....as do I.  What do you think?

    Can you tell your mom that you feel weird about it? Just be honest?  I get what you are saying though. It is awkward to sell it to her when you would be inclined to give it to her, then it would defeat the purpose of getting money to pay things off...

    I would sell the one you have and buy her a nice necklace for her bday/Christmas or Mother's Day. I would feel funny selling that to my mom and she really should have her own necklace that means something to her- not between you and an ex boyfriend.

    Okay, this is partially semantics, but how about to avoid the awkwardness but to achieve everyone's goals you give the necklace to your mom, and she gifts you $245 toward what you're trying to pay off?
