Babies: 6 - 9 Months

My LO's "tooth" disappeared!

So I thought my LO was getting his first tooth, but I thought it was in a weird place as it was on the bottom gum way over to the right and not in the middle like they usually first appear. It was a little white, hard bump that appeared about a week ago. This morning I looked and it was gone! I looked up what it could be and apparently it might be a Bohn's nodule. I'm sorta bummed because I thought he was getting his first tooth! Isn't that weird?

  • Maya had a disappearing tooth, too!  Your lo may have had a little cyst...my friend's baby had one and that is what it looked like.  The tip of Maya's tooth came out, said hello to the world, and then mysteriously retreated...

  • My DD has had a disappearing tooth for a few months now. She still doesn't have one but the white spot is back again. My mom who is a dental hygientist told me that her teeth can move around and seem like it's coming up but then moves back down. Totally normal.

Really? Wow, that is crazy! Well, I'm glad to know that I'm not just seeing things. I have to write in his baby book that "No, mommy was actually mistaken. You didn't get your first tooth in January. It went away!"

  • DD had exactly this about a month ago.  When it disappeared, someone told me it was probably a "milk tooth", whatever that is.  She has 2 real teeth poking through on the bottom in the middle now.

  • This has happened to both of mine more than once.  Still no teeth.
