What did you get flamed for?

Re: What did you get flamed for?

  • I got flamed SO MANY times...

ONE time, I got flamed for being tired of women complaining that they weren't gaining enough weight!

"I only gained 2 pds. this month" waaaaaa

I thought others would be with me....  :(

I don't post as often as I did in the past, so I doubt anyone will even recognize me but I like this thread so..

I was flamed in the TTGP days for referring to sex as "BD". It was my first post, I looked up the abbreviations in the glossary and thought that was what was generally used on the board. I got ripped a new one and made fun of. It was hilarious.

When I found out I was pregnant, I freaked out about quitting smoking.  I posted about how to go about quitting smoking on 1st tri board.

    I got flamed royally.

Needless to say, I felt like a jerk, but I ended up being able to quit smoking in a heartbeat the day after.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't understand why someone would flame you for this.... You were asking a legitimate question so that you could do the best for yourself and your baby by quitting.

I'm not sure if it was how I worded everything, or not.  From what I remember, everyone was up in arms and just saying stuff like "just quit, blah, blah".

I have gotten flamed on the baby name board (before I became a reg over there) I was the classic post before lurking...BIG mistake.

I dont know if it would be getting flamed but people thought I was MUD because I didnt know I was pregnant til 29 weeks.

On one of the tri boards there was a controversy over bare belly pics and I thought people were making fun of the OP's weight, and I tried to be supportive and got flamed/b!tched at.

Oh how much I have learned since then.

    Really???? I didn't know until 20 weeks.

True Story. I was bombarded with "how could you not know" this that and the other. its called im heavy to begin with, I neverhave had a regular menstruation cycle and I was loosing weight, I went from 322-262 in 4 months, and I didn't have any signs (that I knew of back then) now I totally see it looking back.

  • Back in my knot.com days a "regular" on the P&E board ripped me new one because I asked if it was tacky not to get a limo for our bridal party since we were renting a classic car for ourselves.  The church was less than a mile from reception and we had a shuttle service for all the guests they could have taken but apparently I was being cheap and HAD to rent a limo.  Whatever.

  • I get neither noticed nor flamed--and that's okay. I'm probably just not that interesting.

I am, however, glad I never knew about the boards on TK when I was engaged. I wouldn't touch that sh!t with a ten foot pole.

Never really been flamed but some chick went all BSC on me when I said that I didn't like Winnie the Pooh--I believe it was even complete with feeling sorry for my husband and children.

    True story.

I was flamed on the pets board for complaining about the dog shortly after we adopted him.

I was flamed for using the word "gay".  I like the word, I love gay people, I have many family members who are gay.  I use the word...so be it.

I've been flamed a few other times, but I really don't remember.  I am guessing I don't remember because it didn't bother me in the least.

    ::raises hand::

I'm in the moderately invisible club too :)

I got flamed for referring to my IRL friends as 'the gays'.  I was quoting my MIL in the post, but I actually do call my friends 'the gays'.  Just like they call me and our straight friends 'the straights'.  I was asked if I would call African American people 'the blacks', etc.   Um, no.  My gay friends don't take offense to it, why should you?

  • I got flamed for making the "See you ladies on the other side" post on 1st Tri, as in I was moving onto 2nd Tri. Everyone said I was trying to make it seem like I had a miscarriage and it was just BAD. I felt awful. All around BAD.

  • I wasn't flamed exactly, but I got all upset about something really stupid at work once and asked opinions about it. I remember people telling me it was a stupid thing to get upset over. I realized quickly that they were right and was over it pretty quickly.

And Rochella, zeadfly, and MommaEm, I notice you guys! In fact, I always think of you as part of the regulars/big-timers group. ;)

  • If I have gotten flamed, I don't remember it.  I try to keep in mind that I don't know all the facts/can't always tell typed tone and try to be level headed in my replies.

That being said, I am beyond over the people who think that 6 months is a magical point for beginning solids/sleep training/drinking water/flying to the moon/whatever and to do anything before that is child abuse.  It isn't a switch that just flips when LO turns 6 months.  They make me stabby, along with the people that are always screaming "omg, get a new pediatrician."

So yeah, I am sure if I opened up those feelings, I would get flamed

I feel like I'm in this group too. Here a lot, but no one really notices too much! Nothing wrong with that though.

  • I've never been flamed (since I'm still a newb and have only started posting more lately) but I did ask the stupid "Was the chinese gender chart right for you?" question at the start of 2nd tri.

Some people just answered and then someone finally said "It's about 50% accurate."

And then I realized how stupid a question it was. And once I was on that board for a while longer I realized how often that stupid question is asked.

  • Hmm...I've really only been flamed on theknot for a really weird reason. I'm a traditional catholic, and in church women wear headcoverings. I was looking for ideas on what my bridesmaids could wear that didn't look frumpy (I ended up going with birdcage veils). Anyways, I ended up getting flamed about my religion....nice. It was super Klassy.

I haven't either. I guess I need to do something scandalous to be flamed about or to just 'fess up to things I have done :)

I was about to say I thought of you guys as part of the "popular girls." Hehe, this is like high school all over again! Ftr, I always felt invisible on the Tri boards bc I never felt I had anything important to say.

The only time I think I got flamed was back in 2T when I questioned why anybody would try to have a baby while still in college. I wasn't judging people, but I think it came across that way. I was genuinely wondering! I got my answers and went on my merrily way.
