Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

When do you stop using a high chair?

No idea what the norm is.... We're moving to Australia in a few months and trying to just take the "essentials" with us. I have no idea if the high chair will get much use beyond that time (DD will be 20 months by then).

How long is the high chair typically used? And what do we transition to next (assuming she's too young to just sit at the table without any kind of extra seat or restraint)?

  • we have one of these feeding seats and it's fantastic. it can be used from infant to toddler. the best part is that it fits right on a kitchen chair so it doesn't take up extra space and lets them sit at the table like bigkids!

  • Nora is fine in a booster seat when we're not at home.  We have the Space Saver high chair which converts to a booster, and lately I've been thinking of making the switch.

  • We've used a booster at our table since DD was about 8 months old because I felt like it was hard to include her in dinner when the high chair kept her separate from the table.  I would probably just go with a booster at this point if I were you.
