Sinus Pain - Tylenol, Sudafed & Benadryl

I have a horrible sinus thing going on that is painful. I saw the ENT and talked with my OB nurse the other day and they said Tylenol is OK (level B for PG), Sudafed (C) and Benadryl (C).

I don't want to take the above day after day, but this *&%^$ sinus thing isn't going away. I'm a nervous nellie as I've had 2 MCs in the past year. I don't want to do anything that causes risk. Also, during the first MC I was sick and took an antiobiotic that was supposed to be OK during PG. I don't believe that's what caused the MC but am nervous to take the next step with a different "safe" antiobiotic out of fear.

Anyone else go through this? Anyone else continually take the above meds and feel safe?

  • I think you'll be ok with any of those just make sure you drink extra water.  You don't want to make yourself miserable and not take anything, it's not good for the baby either.

Try taking a warm shower or some saline nasal spray too.

On a side note, whenever I get a sinus infection, I find that crying in the shower does wonders. Embarrassed

  • I have a sinus infection now too, have had it for about 4 weeks now.  I was put on Amoxicillin and honestly it did nothing, so if you don't want to risk it with an antibiotic I wouldn't bother with one.  I've been taking Benadryl which helps a lot.  I asked my Dr. on Monday if it was okay to take it pretty often and he said yes.
  • I have had a sinus infection for about a week now and finally broke down and got some Tylenol Cold & Sinus and Tylenol PM. Both were recommended by my doctor. Tylenol PM has Benadryl in it so it helps decongest at night. I hope you feel better!

  • I try not to take them every day.. but when my sinuses are bad.. I usually do take sudafed once a day.. and tylenol too. I take tylenol pretty regularly for random aches and headaches..

I take benadryl SOMETIMES, but i don't find it helps my sinuses much. I took it last night cuz my arm is all swollen up like a bug bite from my flu shot.
