So I literally just had to walk a customer through the process of HOW TO USE THE FREAKING INTERNET, over the phone!! Not even joking in the slightest. It was painful, made my head hurt, and I think it's about to bring on more contractions. People like that are the reason I may not last another 6 weeks.
Re: Oh for crying out loud
I used to have a job like that. I did online banking phone support for Bank of America ... and would have 89 YOs call in because they couldn't figure out what was wrong with our site.
Dude, if you don't know where the ADDRESS BAR IS ON YOUR BROWSER ... or even what an address bar IS ... then you really have no business banking online. Period.

My mom had me come in to try to help her learn a new software they got at her office...
While I'm there I noticed she had 5000 emails in her deleted items folder (Outlook). I let her know that every once in awhile she needs to empty that.
"Oh no, Deansgirl, that's where I keep my IMPORTANT emails."

I am a freelance web designer and social media girl. Mostly fun, except for 1 client that I have to walk through her website by using technical terms like, 'the little red box with the white X in the upper right hand corner' OR 'move the cursor until it turns into a hand over the royal blue text, then CLICK' the worst part is she's passive aggressive and combative about what does or does not work on her site. As you can imagine it's 100% her and not the design. Then she purchased an iPad, but does not comprehend that it's really just a big mobile phone without the phone capability (i.e. 'My site looks different on here').
My favorite mantra I say to myself when talking with her~~Smartphone is a description for the device, NOT the user~~
As soon as I am done with this round of her updates, I am sending her a 'It's not me it's you' letter. It's beyond painful.
My mom recently got rid of AOL. Trying to talk to someone who thinks AOL IS the internet to try to get them to set up a gmail email was the worst.
Oh and explaining "tabs" in firefox, good god.

HAHAA, my mom still goes to the mall to macy's to pay her Macy's CC bill. With a check, in person. Not even sending it in. I started trying to convince her to just pay it online, but then I realized the headache that would cause for me and was just like, "uhhhhh, nevermind, carry on!"
This was my first thought! I once called my Mom to see if she got an email from me, her reply... "no, but there's one here for you"... No Mom, that's from me, open it.
I had to teach my replacement thise. She is in her 40s. She still hasn't picked it up. Nor has she figured out faxing. I did not bother trying to teach her scanning to email. She breaks my copier trying to fax. This is why I can not take off time before the baby comes.
