i've definitely started to become more constipated... i am pooping a LOT less than normal, and it's a huge effort every time
sorry, i know this is lovely reading material....
anyway, just wondering if you guys have found this gets worse and worse as the weeks pass, or if any of you have taken anything for it, etc. (i *really* want to avoid taking anything if i can).
thanks so much ![]()

Re: TMI Q #2: poop...?
I haven't taken anything yet, but I am trying to bump up my fiber. Also I am finding that it is best if I go whenever I feel like I need to - waiting seems to make things worse.

And with the delivery trifecra of one twin vaginal, one c-section with general anesthesia for twin B, Spencer and Sidney joined us at 35 weeks exactly on June 18.
Eat more fiber and drink more water for 'natural' cures. A little baby food prunes mixed in applesauce will also help
Colace is generally considered safe as well, it just makes things 'softer' but doesn't make you go. You WILL want that after birth though, trust me.

I startedhaving seriously the hardest poops ever (feel like I'm practicing to deliver!) about 25 weeks? I was normal before then but yes the more pg I am the worse it seems to get!
I won't use a toilet unless a plunger is around!
Just in the past couple weeks this has become a MUCH bigger issue for me. I've resorted to Metamucil fiber wafers to up my fiber intake. It is helping, but I still may need something to help soften things up.
None of this is helped by the fact that I'm taking iron supplements too, which makes consitpation worse. Yeah for me.....

Lovely s/e of pregnancy, eh? I have found that raisin bran helps to get my system moving. If things are really slow...I'll eat 2 bowls a day.
And I'm with MayDay, the plunger is my BFF.
Things were better in the 2nd trimester, but since I hit the 3rd trimester, it has gotten worse.
I used to drink a little bit of prune juice to help me, but since being diagnosed with GD I am eating a couple of prunes. Not fun, but it helps.
I take colace everyday - peri says it's fine. I only take 50mg.
It seems to help.. I try to time going to the bathroom each day - as I really can't get constipated or push esp. w/ a cerclage.
