Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Still w/ name drama at 10 months!

Hi to all!  I used to be big into The Knot and did a little on The Nest but haven't been on any boards for a while.

Here's my dilemma...My baby girl is 10 months old and I am still unsure if I want to call her by her first or middle name.  She is Annabelle Brynn (Brynn is a family name.)  For you all to know the whole story I've got to go back a little.  My DH and I could never come up with a name.  Finally at about 8 mo pg, we both decided Annabelle would work.  My mom basically went off on me-made me cry, "that's a terrible name," "your (dead) grandmother would have hated that name," that is the neighbor's dog's name", etc.   At that point I just quit talking about it/thinking about it.  I went into labor shortly after that.  We called her Annabelle for the first 5months but it never felt right.  (I'm sure b/c of my mom's comments.)  So then we decided to call her Brynn.  We finally got everyone calling her that, but now I'm not even sure about that.  She will be a year next month so I feel like I need to be fair to her and finally settle on something.  At times I call her by both names which I think is pretty (and so she'll recognize both) but I think it is all too long for long term.

Honestly I am tired of worrying about her name but I feel stressed about it on a regular basis.  I would never actually/legally change her name so that is not the concern.  I guess I just want opinions on the whole situation.  Maybe somebody's reply will inspire me!

  • I go by my first and middle. It was never a problem. If thats what you like, go for it.

But just pick one already! ;)

  • I would call her by her first name and let her decided when she is older what she wants people to call her.

  • What about Anna?  Annabelle is a beautiful name......and its def more of a human name than a pet's name.  I have cats named Isabella and Lily, but my cousin is still using Lily.  IMO Annabelle Brynn is a cute name.  Brynn is also cute.  I don't think you can really go wrong here.

  • I sort of think if you have everyone calling her Brynn for the last few months, you sort of have to stick with it.

  • I would just stick with what the majority of people are calling her and it will eventually click :) I also think Annie would be super cute nickname (not to complicate things more lol)

  • How about Anna, or Belle?  Our DD's name is Isabel and we call her Belle sometimes, it means beautiful and of course she is, and I'm sure your DD is as well :)
