I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Re: when do you plan on starting maternity leave?
I'll work right up until the birth. My maternity leave won't officially start until I have the baby... I could take PTO prior to the due date, but I'd hate to assume I'll go earlier than July 9th (or right on time) and then not have the baby for another 2 weeks after.
Plus, my work (managers) are pretty flexible where I could be WFH the last month of my pregnancy anyhow.
I plan on working all the way up to the last minute if possible. When I had my son I went into labor at work.
After 2 years, Injects, PCOS diagnosis and 2 IUI's, we were blessed with our beautiful twin girls!

Here We Go Again!!
I'll work up until the day I have LO.
I'm happy to have 12 weeks this time, but my time is better spent with the baby than at home waiting.
FWIW, I've heard that taking time off before baby can really, really keep time dragging.
Ditto this. Plus, my office is closer to the hospital than my house is!
I'm on a contract that expires June 30th. When hired on I was told there was a chance it'd be extended. I haven't told my boss yet, but I'm planning on having that be my last day. That will give me two weeks before my EDD.
I also tutor after school. That will end mid-may when school lets out. I'll be quitting that job and not doing the summer program since LO will come sometime in the middle of the program. I don't plan on going back in the fall because it's only an hour of work each afternoon, but I'd had to pay for at least 1 1/2 hours of childcare. It just wouldn't make financial sense.

If I end up having an induction date, then I'll probably take off the week before.
If I go naturally, then I plan on working up until my water breaks at my desk.

BFP #4 via the natural (free!) way ~ E (8lb 11oz) 9/13/12
I plan to take the last two weeks off before my due date. With DD, I begged my doctor to write me a note to let me leave work 3 weeks early....and then ended up having DD 2 weeks early. I can't even remember that week off at all.
Let me tell you, there will be lots of things you could do in a week or two before baby comes. Namely sleep, but if you can't do that, or get bored easily, then cook! Make freezer meals, stock the house with groceries, clean, get stuff ready etc. I guess people who don't have kids don't realize, this is your last chance at freedom. EVER.
I understand if money is a consideration. But those two weeks will be paid for me (more if my doctor writes a note), so why wouldn't I stay home...and still send DD to daycare? Life will never be the same after.
This. But because we're slow in the summer if I have to take time off here and there, it's not a big deal. I wish I didn't have to return to work at all but since I am not holding one of the winning Mega Millions tickets, I have no choice.

Well. we are supposed to have a mid-summer break starting on June 27th. So I guess then. LOL!
I doubt I'll go back to work on the 12th of July (since my due date is the 10th). However, if I haven't delivered I will.
I won't get paid for maternity leave, so I need to work as much as possible.
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)

I'll work until delivery. My benefits are terrible and I only get 4 weeks somewhat paid (and that is only due to the AFLAC short term disability policy that I pay out of pocket for). There is a 2 week "exclusion" period, then they'll pay 4 weeks for a vag birth and 6 weeks for a c-section.
I'm laughing at those people who are saying they "only" get XXX benefit. All of those benefits are WAY better than mine! I'd KILL to get 7 hours of sick time per pay period... try 4 hours per month! And I'm a professional (engineer). Then again, I know my benefits are way better than many other people. Guess I should be thankful for what I have.
i have the opposite issue! my office is so far from home. and hospital.
With DS#1 I worked until I went into labor, which thankfully started on a Sunday. I had a desk job so it wasnt too hard for me to work while carrying around a watermelon belly. I also had a pretty easy pregnancy and didnt need bed rest or such. My leave started whenever I took off and I wanted to maximize my time with my baby. I had only 12 weeks, so if I took off 2 weeks before he was born, then I only had 10 wks with him. So that was my motivation. This time with my second baby, I am thankfully having a planned c-section which kinda makes it easier to pinpoint a "birth" day and plan accordingly. I plan to take off a day or two before the event. As for the SAHM part, with baby #2 daycare is going to be so pricey. I am considering taking a year off. I understand Ill lose my project to someone else but hope my company will hire me for other work later. I wonder how people take leave of absence and how that works. I know it can depend on how long you've been with the company and what field you're in, etc. But was wondering how it works in general.
