The boy's name Calum c(a)-lum is pronounced KAL-um. It is of Scottish and Gaelic origin. Variant of Columba (Latin) "dove". This was popular among early Christians because the dove was a symbol of gentleness, purity, peace, and the Holy Spirit. Saint Columba was an influential sixth-century Irish missionary who founded a monastery on the Scottish island of Iona. His contemporary, Saint Columban, also Irish, was a missionary in France, Switzerland, and Italy. Calum and its variant Callum may be considered variants of Malcolm in Scotland.
Re: thoughts on the boys name Callum Shane
not a big fan of Callum or Colm (there is just to much that lids can do to those names)
but I love Shane
this
Those were my thoughts as well.
Callum is ok. Every time I hear Shane I think of a white guy from the trailer park (b/c that's the only Shane I know). I agree with a PP that it doesn't flow well.
