Re: Unpopular Opinion thread

  • I've got one.  I really don't like holiday themed clothes for kids.  DD got a few Christmas shirts in the week or two leading up to Christmas.  She wore one or two of them once and now the holidays over and I can't exactly put her in a gingerbread shirt.  We got some Baby's First Christmas bibs last year.  They're stuck away in a drawer for when and if we have another.   It just seems like such a waste

  • I don't like Uggs. I know they are popular at the moment, but they just look odd....especially when people are trying to get away with wearing them to our business casual office this week. If you have to wear them, save them for the weekends!

I agree!  My aunt always gets that stuff and character clothing and all of it goes away never to be seen again unless we run out of pjs and need it to sleep in.  Drives me nuts because it's such a waste of money, but there are things my kids just aren't wearing.

  • I wish Christmas was just a secular holiday like Thanksgiving

(I say this b/c I married a Jew and I still want to celebrate Christmas, b/c I didn't celebrate it religiously growing up anyway).

  • Along City's lines, I can't STAND holiday clothes for adults. I guess this isn't really unpopular, though, given the amount of "tacky Christmas sweater" parties that have cropped up.

I don't have anything really unpopular today. Maybe this: my child has chronic croup, it was explained the time before last that he will likely receive it every time he gets a bad cold from now until he's 6 years old. Yet, we still have to pay $25, wait 45 minutes to see the doc, and take time away from work/naps just to get his steriod prescription. You would think after the 6th time I could just put him on the phone, let them hear him bark, explain that he has no fever, no vomiting, and normal appetite, and that he just needs a dose of steroids to relax his epiglottis or whatever causes the bark. But unfortunately, that's not the case.

I guess I should be thankful that there is something out there that helps him and we can afford it, right?

Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • I agree about the Xmas clothing.  When I bought DS his new jammies for Xmas eve (our tradition :)  I picked ones that were more winter-themed than Xmas.  Penguins will annoy me less in January than Rudolph, kwim?

This..My MIL bought Noah a Santa outfit last yr..She wanted us to wear it Christmas eve..I am just not into this!  Thank God she didnt buy him one this yr ;)

  • Here's mine:

I can't stand sappy Christmas music or movies.  Dh calls me a grinch, but I can't help it.  I know they're only on once a year, but I still don't like them.

I am right there with you!

I'm over the boots with jeggings fad right now.  EVERYONE is wearing this combo, it's laughable.

  • I don't get the love of Goodnight Moon.

Mason brings it to me to read all the time, but I cant stand it.

I also hate going to Disney, or Universal (places were obviously your going to get sweaty) and there is a gaggle of teenage girls in the restroom fixing their hair and makeup, rolling up their shorts, complaining about how they look. They don't even realize how much fun they are missing. No one cares about how you look, get over it.

I don't wear those!  I do have Uggs, and love them, but I wear my jeans slightly flared over them.   I don't even want to know what I would look like in Jeggings! Stick out tongue

  • I also don't really like Christmas themed clothing.  It DOES seem like a waste of $$ to buy something that will literally get worn once or twice.  I did Christmas pj's once, and decided not too because it just seems weird to wear santa / candy cane / rudolph jammies in January.

I also do not like Christmas dresses for little girls.....not my style at ALL!

Another one, trinkets or gifts for children that will only ever sit on shelf.  My first DD got a porcelain doll from MIL.  It will NEVER get played with.  Why not buy her something that she can play with?!?!

  • I'm convinced that anyone who hates Jeggings either don't know what they are or they're not wearing them correctly.

If you're wearing them the right way, they should look like jeans. What's to hate about comfy pants that look like jeans? I don't get it.

  • Oh man.. I have a two. And I'll probably get flamed like hell and look like a b!tch, but oh well.

    1. I think 35 year olds (or older) that still live with their parents at home, with no intention of going to school and work at the mall and play video games are losers. Maybe I just think one of DH's friends are losers.

    2. I find it gross when people floss/pick their teeth right after they eat in front of others. Especially when they blow their nose to get rid of their snot.

  • I don't like uggs, and can't stand crocs. I fail to understand people who also don't like them who wear them just because that's what people are wearing now. If you think it's ugly don't wear it.

I agree. And to say that everyone is wearing them and thats why you don't, is silly. So you've never followed a trend in your entire life? I doubt it.

I love my skinnies, but have not purchased jeggings yet. I honestly think that most of the people who hate them just haven't found a good fit or a good pair yet. They aren't just for size zeros.

  • I can't stand when people linger in restrooms.  Hey ladies from the marketing department, do you really want to be talking about what you're having for lunch as I'm dropping a duece right here?  Get out!

In general, I don't like talking in restrooms.  If we're having a conversation on the way to the ladies, it should stop as soon as we walk in and resume when we walk out.

I'm pretty sure they're mostly just skinny, but you just wear a long sweater or tunic top over them. You can pair them with boots, flats, heels, etc.

You just want to make sure your ass is covered or you'll look like a grandma in spandex lol.

i am at work, wearing my ugly Uggs, but i'm happy in them. i was so against Uggs for the longest, then i tried them on to see what all the fuss was, and i was in heaven. so yes, my feet look ugly, but i'm so comfy. i definitely now care more about comfort than looks these days. i love my ugly Uggs.

I actually hate skinny jeans too because I carry my weight in my butt and thighs. I don't even own a pair of skinny jeans. BUT I love my Jeggings!

I would never wear them without a long top though. That would be horrific.

  • I really don't like most Vera Bradley stuff. SOME of the prints are cute, but I find most of them pretty tacky. Just my opinion. My MIL keeps buying me Vera Bradley stuff and I don't know what to do with it. I gave my friend one of the purses. It was bright green and had a bunch of little elephants and I think also some bright blue paisleys on it. Now what am I supposed to do with THAT?!?! My friend was thrilled with it, though. Inexplicable.

    That commercial is fantastic. LOL.

  • Mine is probably going to offend a lot of people, but I think it's ridiculous how people make such a big deal about cooking and hosting a holiday dinner (Thanksgiving, Christmas..). They even have magazines articles out about how to efficiently use your time to make sure you can cook and serve all of the food. I host a large meal every Friday night and manage to make 3 or 4 courses without help from a magazine. So the fact that you have ample time to prepare for Thanksgiving and people still freak out is kinda pathetic.

And my second UO.. there's really no excuse for not knowing how to cook. Being a parent and possibly a spouse? Unless your SO cooks enough for both of you, I don't see how people can get by.

Yeah!  We just saw that over Christmas, and everyone in my house just got quiet and stared at the tv - like the had just announced the end of the world was here.  We were all in shock and disbelief.  I thought it was a joke.

My horrible confession-I think that style only looks good on petite women.

I'm not overweight (well, when not pregnant-haha) and I'd never be caught in jeggings because I'm not really petite or anything. I don't hate them and for women that look good in them-more power to them. But I wouldn't wear them personally.

I really didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings with that, because that's not how I roll, but I just have all this stuff and don't know what to do with it! I did go into the Mori Luggage store to look for a wallet for DH, and saw some stuff in this navy blue and white pattern that was pretty, so that's why I had to qualify that some of the prints were cute. But most . . . not so much. LOL. She gave me a Vera Bradley curling iron case. Not only do I not know where my curling iron IS, I'm just simply amazed that there is a market for said product.
