Not sure where I fit in but I would think you'd want to take people like me into consideration. I delivered at 36 weeks, 6 days. That's the day I developed HELLP and had to deliver my baby asap. When I was pregnant, I was banking on delivering late, only to have my baby come 3 weeks early. You definitely can't count on babies coming after 40 weeks, as I am living proof. 223

I am a late ovulator too and always have to remind my practitioner that an EDD based on LMP would be WAY off, so they always ordered an early ultrasound.
With DS2 I ovulated day 23 as well. I gave birth to him late 38 (almost 39) weeks. The nurse even said something to the effect that oh, her due date was probably off since I actually gave birth on my original due date (based on LMP), but then my midwife said, "no, she (meaning me) probably just has long cycle with a shorter gestational period than most."
Consequently both my boys were born approx 10 days early. DS1 was induced for med reasons (but I was already in labor) and DS2 came spontaneously.
For both boys I had the same thing: My due date (based on ovulation was the 25th of the month, the OB/midwife date based on early ultrasound put me at the 30th of the month, but I gave birth the 18th/19th of the month). I don't know if that makes sense but I hope so because I think it is kind of cool.

I used a method that I learned in my Natural family planning class to figure out my due date. That method you count back 7 days from when your temperature rose and then add 9 months (If I remember right). My son came exactly on that due date.
I O'd on day 11 the cycle we conceived. Based on that date, I went into labor at 40w2d, and DS was born 34 looooooong hours later (at 40w4d).

Water broke at 37-3. I was induced for PROM 10 hours later. DS was born at 37-5.
