Natural Birth

Please for those who CHARTED only

Hey Ladies!  For those who have already had your FIRST child, and you charted and KNEW when you actually ovulated (within a few days and your EDD was based on when you O'd and not on your LMP), when did you deliver?  This may have been asked before, but I tried to google the bump and it didn't give me any kick backs for this question.  My wonder is, I know they say that the average first birth is 41w 2-3d, but does this take into account that most of the women giving birth have no idea when they actually O'd?  I'd just like to see if the number is actually different for those who did chart and know exactly when they O'd.  (Just an FYI, I O'd on day 23 of my cycle and I had extremely long cycles prior to getting pg- some up to almost 50 days, so my EDD based off of my LMP would have been really screwed up if I went by that!)

*** Thank you for posting below, it reminded me I wanted to add only if you began to labor naturally, not if you were induced!  Please don't clicky if you were induced, just comment on how far along you were when they induced below! :)  Thanks again!

  • We only had sex ONCE around ovulation, and exact date of ovulation was also confirmed through the first ultrasound.

    DD was born at 40 w 6 d.

  • I charted w #1 and early ultrasound due to spotting (6w0d) confirmed my date.  I had O 10 days before the due date based on when I O'd.

I know when these two were conceived to the HOUR, but with twins have no idea what that will do to my EDD. I'll just be glad to get to 38w.

I delivered the day before my ovulation based due date - which was well off of my LMP date (I also had long cycles).

This.  My LMP date would have been later than my dates based on my O day.

  • I didn't vote because I was induced (because of oligohydramnios).  Based on my EDD from my O date, I delivered at 39w4d.  I was only dilated to about 1cm at the time.  I think it would have been at least another week if not longer.
  • With my first, I charted and O'ed on day 23.  My midwives originally gave me an EDD based on LMP but I eventually got them to change it.  The original date was 11/1, adjusted date based on O was 11/9 and I gave birth (naturally, no induction) on 11/4.

  • My EDD based on LMP and based on ovulation were five days apart.  Fortunately, my OB moved my EDD to my ovulation date based on both the early u/s and my chart.  Even so, I'll go in to start the induction process tomorrow night (41w) and deliver at 41w 1d on Tuesday.

  • If I'd gone by my LMP, I'd have gone 10 days over my due date, although I was induced, but I was in early labor the day I was induced so I'd have had him within a few days. Based on charting, I had him 2 days after my due date.

  • I was induced at 41 weeks 3 days, but I had a feeling she was going to be late; I know I was ovulating later in my cycle (which were a bit longer than the normal 28 days anyway).
  • Based on charting my due date was 6/30 and it was 6/27 based on LMP. DS was born on 6/3 at 36 weeks 1 day .

  • I charted and O'd on CD 24 so my original "due date" was 8/15. They changed it to 8/25 which I knew was the correct EDD after an u/s. She was born on 8/29 (40w 4d).

  • I charted and O'ed on CD 17, delivered DD 40 weeks, 4 days based on my O date.

  • I delivered 4 wks and 1 day before my due date which was estimated from my O day.  I have really short cycles, so DS would have been almost 5 weeks early if taken from my LMC.  DS was 7 lbs, healthy and went home with us from the hospital, so I have always questioned if my due date was wrong all along,  I had POAS the month before and got a BFN plus a light period, but it does make me wonder :)

This exactly happened to me and one of my girlfriends.  Both she and I had gotten BFNs and then had light spotting- even some red, and thought that was a period, but it never turned into a full-blown period so we just counted it as spotting, and both got BFPs within a week after the spotting.  We both are moving forward with counting the spotting as that- spotting, and going by the last charted O we saw in my case and in her case her LMP because she didn't chart.

  • I delivered 6 days before my EDD, which was based upon my O day. I had to show my chart several times since my LMP would have made me due almost 5 weeks earlier! I O'ed on cd53.

I was not induced, although my doctor did stretch my membranes at 38 weeks due to my measuring so big. (She was 8lbs 3oz, but they were estimating she was over 9 on my labor day)

  • I know when I O'd because I had IUI and we triggered ovulation, so EDD was based on O date, and I was induced at 41w3d.

  • According to my charting, my EDD was 7/4, but all along his measurments at 13 and 20 wks put him at 6/26.  So it was possible that I O'ed early.  Regardless, he was born on 6/25.

  • I had a very regular cycle and had the same due date based on both ovulation and LMP.  DS was born on his due date.  Guess I had the most "normal" pregnancy ever (which is actually pretty abnormal!).

  • I was induced 3 days after my EDD.  When I went for my first OB visit, they did an ultrasound and calculated my EDD based on the size of the baby, which measured exactly according to my ovulation date (CD 24).

  • My due date based on LMP was 9/20, ultrasound gave 9/30, ovulation said 10/9. I went into labor on 10/1.

  • I charted and know that my daughter was concieved the day before I ovulated...that being said I had her at 38w6d

  • Wish I could say otherwise but I was induced 2w2d after my due date, which was exactly what it was based on my ovulation.  I never went into labor on my own (induced, natural labor for 30+ hours, resulted in c/s)

  • My EDD based on LMP was July 2nd (making me 3 weeks "late") and my EDD based on O was July 6th (making me about 2 1/2 weeks "late").

Either way I was past 42 weeks when Lily was born on the 23rd.

    Edit- I was not induced.

  • Due date according to O date on chart and confirmed w/ first ultrasound was 10/9.  Went into labor naturally on 10/5 at 39w3d.

  • My EDD was the same based on O date or LMP. We had a unique situation for giving birth. I had a natural labor start at my birth center at exactly 38 weeks and gave birth that day. I was already dilated when we began, and my body responded very favorably to the labor start, so I probably would've gone into labor on my own before too long. But it really wasn't an induction. No drugs involved.

  • I'll let you know when I get to that point.  I'm pretty curious about that myself.

I had pretty long cycles (I think 40+ days).  Fortunately, OB knows better than to use LMP as dogma, so I got a dating u/s at 6/7 weeks  Based on measures, their EDD was within a day of my O date and the predicted due date that FF had spit out. Another fortunately, he's not one to readjust due date based on any subsequent measures.

    Works for me.

  • I charted and according to my O date my EDD was January 10. I delivered on January 7.

  • I didn't get my period between going off the pill and getting pregnant so they could not base my due date on my lmp.

I was charting, but was out of town around O time so I'm not sure of the exact date I O'd, but I know when I had sex.  DS was born 6 days after EDD based on the ultrasound.  I believe that date was either 1 or 3 days off because of when I had sex.  So he would still have been 2-5 days late.  I hope that helps some!

  • I ovulated on day 12 of my cycle, so it was pretty close to my OB's due date. Based on ovulation, I would be 40 wks on April 27, and I gave birth on April 25. :)

  • Well, I was induced, but I also had twins, and average gestation is only 36w for twins. I was induced at 37w6d. I ovulated on CD21 so if someone had gone by LMP they would've thought I was 38w6d. (My boys always measured right on track with my ovulation-based due date though.)

  • I conceived during my first charting cycle. We had sex 1 day prior and 1 day after ovulation. I'm assuming it's the previous day that did the magic. LO was born at exactly 39 weeks. He was huge, if he had stayed an extra week I would have delivered a toddler.

  • I know when I O'ed- his EDD according to Ovusoft was 10/18 and the wheel at the dr's office was 10/16.  He was born at 39w2d on 10/13.

  • I charted and knew what day I ovulated, which happened to be CD14 on the cycle we conceived, so the estimated due date based on my LMP was actually my correct due date.  I normally ovulate CD16-18, so that was unusual for me too.  My water broke when I was 40w4d and she came 8 hours later.

  • I charted, and LO was due on September 7 (according to my ovulation date).  The doctor said I was due Sept 4.  I was induced (borderline pre-eclampsia), and he was born on August 18.  According to my ovulation date, he was 20 days early.  But, my doctor moved my due date up to August 27 after the 20 week ultrasound, so he was only 9 days early, according to that.
