3rd Trimester

I feel like I should shave my hairy belly

I seriously have afro-gut. Fortunately it's light hair, because I'm blindingly pale, but still. You can almost brush it. Except I'm scared to shave it, because:

1) I've never shaved my belly before. Where do you stop?

2) What if it grows back all dark and thick, and then when DH and I do the deed, he feels like he's rubbing on a bearskin rug and it grosses him out, only to decide that he can never sex me again?! THEN what?!

Re: I feel like I should shave my hairy belly

  • Don't shave it. Trust me.

I have dark hair and pale skin so it just looks like my lady bush is extending up and out. Grossness.

I tweeze the darker, coarser hairs and leave the finer ones alone. It's not attractive but neither is an itchy 5 o'clock shadow on your gut.

  • I shaved at one point and it grew back just the same.
  • My belly fro kind of makes me laugh... its disgustingly long and fine blonde hairs that start at my belly button. I will leave it and lotion it down.

I suppose you're probably right. And besides. It's not like I'm shaving anything else now-a-days anyway... I don't even usually even remember to shave my armpits half the time, and I can actually REACH those still.

  • I have a mini mustache under my blackhole of a bellybutton. I'm so pale I'm translucent, and I have very dark hair. It's seriously a mustache.

LMAO - me too :) My poor forgotten pits. I had just a few dark hairs on my super white belly and I shaved them. No stubble, no growing back thicker and longer (like on Seinfeld haha). Just grew back like before. What about something like Nair? Not sure how good that is during pregnancy though.

  • Ok I have a confession to make... nothing in the world grosses me out more than when I have to do an OB or Pelvic ultrasound on someone who has shaved their belly!  So gross... I also have some long, thick dark hairs, but I pluck and leave the fine ones alone.... I think it is never as bad as you think it is because trust me.... I have seen some extemely hairy woman bellies.

  • what about instead of using a razor, using hair clippers?? That way your not actually shaving the hair off - just trimming it???? Would there still be any stubbly risk??
I am VERY tempted! Hubs says no , but it seems like the nice middle ground!

Just as disgusting... can't tell the difference from shaving imo.  Pluck, wax, nair or epilady, but don't shave it!

I hate seeing shaved hair anywhere.

Like when men shave their arms. Ick. It makes me shudder. If you don't want the hair, wax it or something. But grown out, shaved hair is nasty.

I'd rather see a bunch of natural hair.

  • Haha...I'm so glad someone posted this.  I just thought it was me!  And prenatals are making ALL of my hair grow like crazy...so that's fun.  But I hate seeing all of the belly hair!  I'm crazy pale too and the hair is pretty light, but it's still pretty obvious.
