3rd Trimester

Accidentally put a red sleeper in laundry with all the light colors...

And now I have a bunch of brand new baby clothes and blankets with pink stains.  Dumbest move ever...I'm so glad I was washing everything with cold water or it could have been much worse!

Has anyone done this before and have any tips for good products that might take the stains out?  I tried spraying Shout on everything and put it right back in the laundry and some of the stains lightened a bit but I would really like to try and get them right out.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  • What about oxyclean? Or the Shout Out stain remover sheets?  Adding baking soda in the wash again?
  • Loading the player...
  • Try soaking the clothes in warm water and Borax or Oxi Clean for at least a half hour then washing again.  I don't know if it will help or not but it's worth a try.

Sorry that happened to you...I'd be so upset!!!  I've done it with a few of DS #1s clothes and was so upset with myself!  I can't imagine if they were all brand new!

  • Rit makes something that gets dye out.  Go in your supermarket where they have Rit dyes and it should be there with them.

ETA:  I just looked it up...and it may take the color out of the clothes so I would try other things first!

  • I feel your pain. My MIL threw a red blanket in with all of the new babies light pink clothes. I don't know what she was thinking! lol. I'm happy she was washing everything in cold water as well, I think it helped a little. I would try soaking them in Oxyclean- then wash them again. Good Luck!

the rit should work and not take out the other colors.  i've used it before on red/pink stained clothes and it works great.  good luck.

  • Thanks ladies for all the ideas.  I will try them out tonight!
  • I put a red onesie in with other lighter colors and got some pink on some items-- the pink box of Rit worked just fine!
