For those of you that have already done this/are doing this now:
1. What age did you start the transition?
2. How did your LO do the first night?
3. What tricks/tips did you find that worked well for you?
4. How long did it take before LO was completely transitioned to the crib?
TIA.
Re: Transitions from Rock n' Play to Crib
We recently made the transition from the carseat to the crib, so it's a pretty similar experience:
1. What age did you start the transition? 4 months exactly
2. How did your LO do the first night? cried for 2 hours then STTN
3. What tricks/tips did you find that worked well for you? I read the Ferber book in anticipation of him not going down very well. I wanted some structured plan for getting him used to the idea of sleeping in his crib on his own. Also, I kept his carseat in his crib well before making the transition to get him used to being in his own room and in his own "bed".
4. How long did it take before LO was completely transitioned to the crib? 4 nights (2 hrs of crying night one, 55 minutes of crying night 2, 45 minutes of crying night 3 and has been going down without a peep ever since - THANK YOU FERBER!) Another tip - start the process on a Friday night so you can have the weekend to "recover" in case sleep doesn't go so well at first!
Good luck!
1. We transitioned DD like a week before she turned 4 months.
2. The first couple nights were bad, she was up like every hour so I only kept her in there for the first part of the night.
3. Things that helped us were being consistent about putting her in there initially every single night and we also bought a crib wedge to incline her mattress.
4. I think it was about a week or 2 before she was completely transitioned.
I posted this about a month ago:

HTH!
i actually transitioned DD by swaddling her. She hadn't been swaddled since we started using the RnP at about 2 weeks old. She really liked sleeping in it. I think she really liked the closed in feeling as well as liked being on an incline. So...we are hurdling these challenges one at a time. I swaddled her to put her in the crib so she got used to sleeping in it feeling closed in and secure. She started breaking out of the swaddle after about 3 weeks, so I started doing an unbreakable swaddle(you can youtube it) until I figured out what I was going to do next. I eventually bought the magic sleepsuit and started using it about 2 weeks ago. She went from sleeping about 8 hours in the RnP to sleeping 8 hours in the crib swaddled, to sometimes 9-11 hours in the sleepsuit. Yay! All of this with no crying and stress. Mommy's a happy Mommy!
1. What age did you start the transition? We did it when he was 2 months old.
2. How did your LO do the first night? He did well and slept the same stretches.
3. What tricks/tips did you find that worked well for you? We first transitioned him from the Rock n Play to a cosleeper at 6 weeks. I wasn't ready for him to be out of my bedroom, but he was indicating he was done sleeping in the Rock N Play. After a few weeks of him sleeping in the cosleeper, I was done having him in the room with me. I think transitioning him from sleeping inclined in the room with me to flat in the room with me to flat in the nursery helped.
4. How long did it take before LO was completely transitioned to the crib? It took us a few days to settle into a new bedtime routine. When we started using the crib, we started a more formalized bedtime routine. I think it took us less than a week for both DS and I to get used to him sleeping in the crib.
1. About 3 1/2 months,
2. Woke up frequently. When it was time for me to go to bed, I gave up and put him back in the RNP since I didn't want to keep getting up.
3. I was persistent and kept putting him down in the crib every night and not throwing in the towel until I had to go to sleep.
4. After the 4th night he slept 9 hours straight and he's been doing that about 90% of the time since then.
