DS has been on Acid Reflux medicine - a version of Zantac for a month. The past couple of days he has been screaming his head off around 6pm, seems in pain when he burps. I think that the reflux is bothering him again. Has anyone experience the medicine stop working. He is only on .6ml twice a day.
I am going to call the dr tomorrow but I wanted to find out your experience with this and what worked for you. Did you increase the amount your child received or switch medicines? Or anything else I am not thinking of.
TIA
Re: Acid reflux medicine not working - help
Zantac is very weight sensitive.
We have been upping Liam's dose .5 mL for every 3-5 pounds or so.
He started at 1.5 mL twice a day (2 months, 12 pounds) and is now at 3.5 mL twice a day (5 months, 23 pounds)
I would increase it a bit (or call your pedi first) and see if that helps.
I have heard others say that Zantac does not work as well as Prilosec or Prevacid. DS is on Prilosec and it has worked very well for him.
