We were discharged from the hospital last Friday night to come home and "wait it out". So we finally get in bed around 1am, saying "Tomorrow, we reallly have to clean." I wake up fresh and recharged on Saturday morning to Brad saying, "Baby, you're not going to like this, but there's a hole in the baby's wall." I'm like, "WHAAAT?"
So Then he proceeds to look at where the hole came from. And see's that there's also a hole in the BABY'S BED!! And says in all of his Archaeology sweetness, "Oh My God, I think it's a projectile" lol. Someone had SHOT THROUGH MY NURSERY, and INTO MY BABY BED.
Thank God Lochlan wasn't born yet, or sleeping in that bed, because the only thing that stopped that Bullet from blowing through my house or BABY was the fact that it was a .22 calibur rifle and the baby's mattress was enough to stop the force. If it would have been a higher powered gun it would have blown through the baby's mattress and probably through my brand new refrigerator, and the rest of my house.
I was so livid. Needless to say, it was an accident, but an accident that there is no excuse for, and one that could have took the life of my child!
On a good note, I finished the Nursery focal wall, and it is ready to go. Not that I'm going to let my child sleep in there for a good long while, but at least it's done.
Re: Shot fired through my Nursery *PiP*
This. I'm so confused!! How does that happen?! Where did it come from???
This!! How the fvck did that happen???
I second this. That would scare the cr@p out of me, and I think I would still be in that stage for weeks afterwards too!

OMFG! That is the scariest thing I have heard in a while. I am so glad your LO wasn't born yet. Do you know where it came from? Are you filing a report with the police about it?
Oh my god, I am just blown away by this, it is so scary. I'm glad no one was hurt.
Tritto! WTF did it come from?
Yeah, I'm sorry, but my only reaction is, where do you live? Does this happen a lot near you? You are taking this remarkably well.
I don't think I know one person who owns a gun. If shots were fired anywhere near our house, I would crap my pants and then move.

wow, that's really f'ing scary... you serious need to move that crib away from what ever direction that gun shot came from, and rearrange that room.
i would also look into reinforcing that area of the house as well!!!!
This
Where the eff do you live? I could not imagine this being a "normal" occurrence. If this happened to me there would be no LOLs in my post.
This might be the most insane thing I've ever read on here.
My baby would NEVER spend a night in that room.
You can tell what kind of gun it is by the bullet. .22s are typically used for hunting. I doubt that someone purposely shot at the house.
What can she really do? If she lives in an area where there is land to hunt, it's a risk that one should understand to occur. She could mention it to the police, but I doubt that they would bother with forensics. It's just one of those "Oh Shlt!!" freak accidents.
If it is a frequent occurrence to see hunters too close to buildings, you may want to start documenting it/calling the police as it's happening. How much action they take is, of course, dependent on the district. This would totally freak me out, however it happens around here sometimes (not in my specific neighborhood) Just this morning there was a report on the morning news about a women getting shot while in her bathroom by a stray bullet from a hunter.

Wow. I'm really glad no one was hurt and everything is ok, but that's REALLY scary.
Especially because I know a little bit about guns and I'm wondering how the hell a 22 caliber bullet did all that damage? The person would have had to have been right up next to your house to make this even possible. And even if it is deer season, I doubt anyone is trying to take out a deer with a 22. You should seriously call the police and report it.
lol right? WTF.
umm, regardless of hunting season, aren't there LAWS about hunting on specific areas??
I'd be PISSED and FREAKING OUT.
GL with that.
Exactly. It was a freak accident, and the neighbors live approx. 100 yards away. We can tell it's a .22 bullet because we found the bullet in the bedroom, and the cops looked at it.
I am freaked out, and if I would have been at home when it happened I would have tripped out. I have been away from my house on bedrest for the past 3 weeks, so we aren't even sure when it happened. The police aren't going to use ballistics for this, because no harm was done. But the police put it in report that there is only place it could have came from, and it was a pretty straight shot from their front yard.
Why is an 8-year-old roaming around your neighborhood unsupervised, with a gun, shooting at houses?
I would be terrified to have my child in that environment.
Someone made a "straight shot" at your house and your nursery. Why are you not freaking out again?? Did the police at least talk to your neighbors?
I dont live in a neighborhood necessarily. I live in the country, on a highway. I wasn't there to see the kids outside. But the kids always stay in their yard. And like I said before, the bullet came from their yard. We have a gulley in between our properties.
