4 cm & not in labor? Anyone?

I was 2 cm (75%) on Tuesday and 4 cm (90%) yesterday morning. Could I potentially stay this way for a week or more?! Please no!

  • I have a friend who walked around for a few weeks 4 cm dilated. Just think, when you finally do go into labor, you only have 6 cm to go!

And at 4 cm, your waterbag is most likley bulging. Try bouncing on a ball or doing some brisk walking- might break your water and send you into labor. ;)

  • With DD, I was 4 cm for 2 solid weeks. With a LOT of heavy walking. It was awesome. ;) The good news is, when my water finally broke, the entire labor was under 5 hours start to finish.

  • I had a friend who was 4cm for at least 13 days with her first. I say at least 13 days because she may have been that way for up to a week longer in between appointments. Good luck.

  • Well, since you've made 2cm progress in 2 days, I'd say it is more likely that you will have this baby sooner rather than later!
  • I walked around like that for 5weeks. My MW's finally broke my water at 41+ weeks. GL!!
  • I was 4cm with DD1 from 33 until 38 weeks.  At my 39 week appointment, I was 6cm, so the doc decided to admit me and start pitocin.

  • wow, they let you leave?

at my hospital/office, once you are 3-4 cm, you go to the hospital. they don't let you leave after you have hit 4cm. i would be concerned... that is just me though. i went from 4cm to complete in like an hour though.
