Last night at work I kept feeling something I haven't felt before. I have been worried that with all the pulling, stretching, and popping going on on a regular basis in my belly (and has been for months), I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that and the baby.
This felt like bubbles popping against the inside of my abdomen or being poked with a feather, very irregular in rhythm. The only thing that makes me hesitate to say it was baby is it was higher than I expected, just about an inch below the level of my belly button, and it was also on the side of my belly. I don't know why I figured it would be in front and low, near my pubic bone.
I know it could be the baby, and I'd like to think it is. Just wondering if anyone else has felt it quite that far over.
ETA: I also know it's a bit early for a first time mommy to feel the baby.
Re: Where did you first feel the baby? (if you have yet)
Baby felt like butterflies at around 14 weeks.
Now LO is jabbing at me on the regular.
But where on your tummy did you feel it?

I felt him/her for the first time on Nov. 28th, 2010 around 2am... about 15w. Why do I know this, this is when my baby brother and his wife had their first child. A few hours after my niece was born, I was in the room visiting and meeting my new niece, and my brother rubbed his hand across my belly saying "hi" to my baby and it kicked him SO hard. It was right in the middle of my belly, a bit towards the right...
That was the one and only time I felt a very hard kick... everything before and after was flutters. It was a very special and heartwarming moment.
Between 16 and 17 weeks, I started feeling flutters and pops. I usually feel it off to one side or the other. It's been a little lower than you're feeling it, but not as low as my pubic bone either.
My midwife showed me that my uterus was coming up to about 3 fingers below my belly button when I was in last (around 14 weeks), so that might not be far off from where you were feeling things!

Oh, duh! (facepalm)
The little butterflies were about 3 inches above my left hip, where I always find LO on the doppler.
Now the jabs are everywhere...always under my belly button, since my uterus hasn't grown past it yet.

I almost always feel LO on my lower left side a little lower than half way between my pubic bone and belly button. The other day I did feel the same thing on my right side, which was the first time on that side.
I think you just know when you feel it a few times. I think it feels like a gold fish fluttering it's fins, not super soft but not a sharp poke.
They started about a week and half ago and have become much more frequent, especially in the morning and evening.
I bet what you feel is the baby! Isn't it great
HA! I JUST felt the baby for the first time. Little Goldfish bumping around. It is located exactly where I used to have period cramps, but my thumps are almost exclusively on the right side.
I got the first one laying down in the tub tonight, and have recognized about 4 since then
