We've gone out a handful of times with the little guy. He's okay in the car and at someone's house, but really not good for a store or appointment. I've tried driving longer to make sure he's asleep first, then run into a store or doctor appointment. No good. He's not a happy camper. I'm wondering if it is just because he's not used to "going out." Any suggestions? Please tell me I'm not alone. I'm now nervous about outtings.
Thanks!!!
Re: Leaving the house with LO
Are you FF or BF'ing? I EBF'ed, but when we take him to Mass where I obviously can't whip out a boob, I pump a bottle. It keeps him content as long as his little belly is full and he has a clean diaper.
Sometimes he isn't particularly hungry (I feed him right before we leave) but he likes the comfort of it, I think. I would try that.

We have a travel system that collapses really easy. As long as she's cruising in her stroller she's happy. Last trip to the mall she was awake the whole time but happy as can be.
We also go out almost every day so I think part of it is that she knows it's just what we do!
Now I feed her before we go anywhere and I always bring a pumped bottle and she's an angel. I started using the stroller two days ago and she loves being curled up in her carseat.
It gets easier I promise!!
My LO does pretty good in stores, but we usually use a shopping cart to put her car seat in and so when she does get fussy we push it back and forth or keep her moving. She seems to like the vibrations.
A friend of mine had a super fussy baby and uses a ergobaby carrier when she goes to the store and her LO is much happier that way.

DD is a nightmare if we use the stroller or a cart. I have to wear her. She'll look around at the lights for a while, then fuss a second. I'll give her a binky and she'll snooze.
On Black Friday, she slept the entire time we were shopping while I had her in my Beco carrier. I had 3 pumped bottles (because we were out a long time). I didn't use any of them because she slept the entire time.
If you don't already have one and are interested in some kind of babywearing device.....steer away from the baby bjorn. It's easy to put on but it's murder on your back.
