Kind of NBR: Just curious re Santa pics

I'm just curious what Santa pictures cost where you are. At the mall closest to me, the cheapest package is $18 plus tax!! And that's just one 5x7. It's insane! There may be cheaper ones in other malls, but I haven't looked into it. So how much does it cost you to get LOs picture taken on Santa's knee?

  • Our mall charges an arm and a leg too. But last year I asked if I could take my own picture and they said yes. It surprised me and I hope that they will let me again this year!

  • I don't remember exactly, but I think the cheapest option was $14.99 and it was just one picture also. But they will let you buy a little USB thing with 3 pics on it for around $20 or so. That's what I did last year, and just printed them myself.

That's great. Ours is very anti-camera. They even built Santa's Village so you can't actually see Santa, or your child sitting with Santa from outside the village or from the upper level of the mall. It's bonkers. But at least just saying hi to Santa is still free...

  • Last year our mall just started emailing everyone their picture for free and it's up to you to print it off.  It's great financially, but I still haven't printed out last year's pic yet so there is a downside!

  • we go to bass pro shop where their photo is free (4x6). you can access the photo online to purchase additional prints.

  • We went to a free Santa last weekend...I was allowed to take pictures (in siggy) and they even printed some that I just picked up and they are adorable!

We are going to see Santa again this weekend at the Edina Realty Christmas party.  They print off a picture for you but its not high quality but again I am allowed to take pictures.

  • the santa we go to is about $25 for the cheapest package.... they let us take our own pics if we buy a package - so i'm OK with that.  They bust their butts, deal with annoying kids/parents all day long- i'm happy to pay that much and hope that they are compensated well.

this is about average for this area (NYC suburb in NJ)

  • I think our mall the cheapiest is 2 5x7's for 20 bucks.  I don't like taking my ds there though.  They are usually crappy pictures. Do you have any tree farms around you?  Most have a santa claus and you can take your own pictures.

  • Our (fancy) mall is like $35-40 for a photo CD with six images.

  • Last year it was about $20 to get the cheapest package. Instead, I decided to purchase the USB for about $25 and print my own pictures. We actually ended up using that picture on our Christmas card so it was worth it. My DH took my older DS to Bass Pro Shop this year to get some stuff and he ended up getting a free picture with Santa there and like pp said, you can go online and order more if you want.

  • $5 here at the outlet mall and I took a bunch of pictures with my camera too.

same at the mall we go to...$25 gets you a 5x7 and 4 wallets.   The Santa is a great one though so I feel it's well worth the money!

  • Free, sort of. A bunch of local moms organize a clothing/toy drive for xmas and get one of the big department stores to sponsor it. The dept. store gives us a nice room on some upper floor that is closed off to other people during the event, someone's husband dresses up as Santa and a professional photographer somebody knows shows up with a camera. All I have to do is arrive with DD and some new clothing and toys for a child in need.

  • Cheapest is $10.99 for a 5x7, but they willingly let you take your own if you want. They even have 'photo spot' marked on the floor to show you where to stand. We bought their photo for DS' first visit but took our own last year.
