I avoided pb during my last pregnancy. Although we don't have a family history of food allergies, my OB agreed that there just isn't enough research stating clearly when kids should be introduced to pb. This pregnancy I eat it at least 3 times a week, and would like to daily. I cant get enough.
So I know that there isnt clear research that shows avoiding pb during pregnancy will help protect your LO from an allergy, but I am interested to hear if others are avoiding or craving it!
Re: How often do you eat peanut butter?
I ate it daily with my last pregnancy. I had GD and that was my protein for breakfast (and milk) and with some of my snacks.
I'd be doing the same this time but it gives me killer heartburn now. =(
Almost every day - this pregnancy and my first. We also introduced pb to my DS before he was 1 and had no adverse reaction. His favorite snack is pb on ritz crackers.
First trimester I had it about 5 times a week, because I was craving it. Now, it varies. My doctor didn't say there was any reason for concern. March of dimes has some comments on the safety during pregnancy https://www.marchofdimes.com/pregnancy/nutrition_peanut.html
With my first, I ate half a PB sandwich almost every single day. It used to make him kick like crazy. This time around, I don't think I"ve eaten more than once or twice. It's just not appealing to me.
Oh, and I'd also like to add: When my DS #1 was born 4 years ago, his Pediatrition said to wait until he's 3 to give him peanut butter. I of course followed every single rule back then, so I waited until he was 3 (he hates PB .. maybe he was too old when he tried it for the first time)
When DS#2 was born, his pediatrition said "NOW "they" say that waiting until they're 3 might actually do more harm than good". we gave him PB during his first year and he loves it.
Medical advice changes year to year.

I eat it at least once/day, sometimes more.
I ate it just as much when I was pregnant w/ DS and he has no allergies (he eats PBJ often for lunch)
I eat it nearly every day... I get the sugar-free organic kind... for no other reason than it tastes saltier (but oddly has less sodium than the others) and salt is all I want.
DS eats it at least twice a week. We introduced it to him in the pediatrician's office on his first birthday. You always have this option with any food.
PB makes me sick, still, but Peanut M&Ms? I cannot. get. enough of them.
Nom nom nom...
