Bottle timing question

DS still gets 4 bottles a day (1 when he wakes, 1 before each nap and 1 at bedtime).  My plan was to drop a bottle when he goes down to one nap, but he still seems to be 2 naps strong.

The first bottle is at about 6:30am, so I was thinking of dropping the 9:30 one and doing a small snack and then doing a bottle at 2:30 before second nap.  When does everyone else give their mid day bottle (if you do one)?

I figure once he is down to 3 bottles I'll start working on using the cup for the first two. He has been very resistant so far, and I don't really want to push the issue just yet.

Re: Bottle timing question

  • DS dropped his bottles by himself, but we do a bottle before bed, and a bottle before his naps if he wants them. You might try dropping either the first bottle or the 630 one and feed him a really good breakfast.

When we dropped his morning one we moved to a full breakfast and he now eats: oatmeal, toast, yogurt, and a sippy of milk

Yeah I am wondering how it will go.  He has a 6oz morning bottle, a HUGE breakfast and then a 4 oz bottle at 9:30.  Maybe I should just keep the 4 bottles and wait til he drops a nap.

I tried to drop the morning bottle and go straight to breakfast with a sippy, but he wouldn't eat and just cried.  I am not ready to push that, so I thought dropping the 9:30 would be easiest and just increasing the 2:30.

  • A friend of mine did smaller bottles and from there went to water in the bottle, milk in a cup.  Her DS wanted the milk more than he wanted the bottle so he eventually switched.
