Can the baby feel when you press on your stomach? I'm worried that I am pressing to much. I'm not pressing hard, but I'm worried that it could hurt the baby. Does it hurt the fetus when you press?
I think they may be able to feel it, but I don't think it hurts them.
Last night it felt like he was under my ribs. When I went to rub there I felt a little bump and pushed on it lightly and it moved away. I don't know if it was a foot or something, he probably just moved away and it didn't have anything to do with me poking at him.
I don't think it hurts them. I asked my dr about it, my son is pretty clumsy and seems like he's always elbowing me in the stomach. Dr says baby is fine unless it's a really hard hit or blow to the stomach.

You can't really hurt the baby (unless, of course, you're punching yourself in the stomach or stabbing yourself or whatever). As a PP said, there is a ton of padding in between the outside and the baby, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Well hope not considering whenever he pushes so hard that it hurts I push right back to get him to stop, lol. There is a ton of padding and the amniotic fluid is a buffer as well.
The only thing I would be concerned about is sharp blows and falls.
He's pushing right into my ribs. I feel like I am constantly pressing/massaging/rubbing that area to try and move his feet off of them.
DS did this to me all the time. There'd be a big lump sticking out of my belly. I'd push on his foot, and he'd move it for me. Doesn't hurt the baby. The OB's really push and pull on your tummy during exams to feel the position of the baby.....

pushing back is fine. they say it actually is good for them, that they develop the reflex reaction to kick back....my LO kicks back when I push her foot..we play back and forth I pretend she likes it, anyway...
besides..when the doc wanted her to move during the sonogram he was punching my belly with the gelled-up sensor really hard....and they poked pretty deep when feeling for her position last time too...
When I went in for my NT scan waaay back when, the tech was pushing and poking trying to get her to cooperate. I asked him if it was okay or hurt her, and he said they feel like half of what we feel.

Re: Pressing on your stomach
Here's a bunch of padding between your skin and the baby. So unless you're punching yourself, you should be fine.
However, this question does make me wonder how much poking is going on? LOL!

I have this same issue! Darn short torso.

I actually use my cell phone to press back to get DD out from under my ribs. It works. I did it with DS also, and he's okay.
Yeah... I poke and push at my baby all the time.
