What is your #1 heartburn causing food?

Mine is peanut butter. Who would have thought!?!? I can eat buffalo wings, chili, any spicy food imaginable (I LOVE spicy food) and it has no negative effects. Ten minutes after eating a PB&J my chest is on fire. Do you have one particular food that causes you heartburn or more than one? Fortunately PB seems to be my only culprate.

  • Anything tomato based tends to set me off. The worst so far has been Little Caesar's marinara sauce (which I love to dip my pizza and breadsticks in.. boo!).

  • ditto to tomatoes/tomato sauce!  Darn all the acid! I've never had heartburn in my life until the last month or so.
  • Interesting everyone says tomatoes and garlic... under normal (non-pregnant) circumstances, those are the things that sometimes cause it for me.  But while pregnant, it's completely unpredictable.  I seem to get it no matter what.  And then I'll have a random good day that doesn't seem reflective of having eaten particularly unusal or "gentle" foods.
  • Mine is buffalo sauce, which is a shame because I love it on chicken! I made the mistake of having some last week about 2 hours before yoga and the acid reflux was so awful!

  • Pizza, but only the cheap $5 delivery pizza from Dominos or Pizza Hut (which we try to avoid eating, but had a desperate moment this weekend when our dinner didn't work out). If I make my own pizza, I'm usually fine. I just drink a big glass of milk with it or after and I usually feel better within 20-30 minutes.

  • Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, American, Greek, Organic, Fast Food, water...

    Well, you get the idea. Heartburn has been none stop since 5 days before my BFP.

  • Everything. A simple ham, cheese, tomato and mayo sammy with carrots and ranch can set me off. Dang, I forgot to ask the OB today how many Tums I can safely eat in a day!! DANG.

  • I learned over Halloween that Chocolate Candy gives me heartburn while pregnant.

     

    Other than that, I just started to get other cases of heartburn, but I haven't been able to pinpoint the source.

  • Mustard, vinegar, pickles, garlic are number one.  Followed closely by every other food known to humankind, including chocolate milk!

  • peanut butter for me! i can eat anything else but peanut butter is a no go! too bad too because i love me a good pb and j every now and then but make sure to follow it with some tums.

  • I have been lucky enough to avoid heartburn, for the most part. Occasionally, if I have a really sweet food on an empty stomach, I might get a tiny bit of heartburn.

  • Dark chocolate. It's amazing how quickly the really bad HB comes on right after eating it. Though I agree that pizza's up there too.

  • I only get bad heartburn when i have an empty stomach.  Nothing else seems to trigger it.  I guess i'm lucky...so far!

  • I made homemade lasagna a few weeks ago w/ just pasta, tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, but the sauce had a lot of garlic in it, and that was my first bout of heartburn. It was awful! I only had it those few days following though- the next night I ate a salad with some pico de gallo in it and that gave me a little, since then nothing too bad.

  • Everything and anything. It seems to go in waves though so one time pizza may get it going while another time it doesn't

    Water set it off once. Heck, I don't even really have to eat to get it.

  • This will sound weird but... bread.  It took me awhile to figure it out but any type of carb does it.  Waffles, beagles, sandwiches even with nothing on it but ham and any other type of bread.  Peanut butter is another really bad one that I had to cut out.
