Re: anyone know a good cure...

  • Max alt is really the only thing that relieves mine (though not good for 2ww)... Have you tried Goody's powder? When  I can't take my script that helps a bit.  Otherwise try drinking cold water (or Coke) really fast, or a cold compress on your head.

  • My sister swears by excedrin migrane formula, I dont know if it would help though because you said the regular excedrin makes it worst. I hope this helps! GL!
  • All that ever helps me is heating pad on my head (or a very hot, wet washcloth) and sleep.  Sometimes I will take a couple tylenol pm to help me sleep.  Sorry that you aren't feeling well!

  • I've always been told that cold (not hot) helps migraines since the pain is caused by the swelling of blood vessels.  Cold helps to shrink them.

I normally do the cold compress and I have tried goody's too...MH says there's a Goody's for migraines but I haven't seen it...hmmmm...what to do?

my chiropractor actually says to put cold compress at the base of your skull since thats where a lot of them start...

I agree with you about the cold helping most people, but it just makes me more uncomfortable.

  • When I worked in the Pharma world I know Drs were using Botox off label for relief of the frequency and severity of migranes....
  • The only thing that ever helps at ALL is Advil for the swelling and caffeine to restrict the blood vessels. Doesn't get rid of it but I don't throw up every time I breathe.
    I'm a bird.
  • Ice cold water and lots of it. I also pop the excedrin migraine formula but besides water and sleep, there's not much you can do for a migraine.
  • A chocolate milkshake and a nap usually does the trick for me.

  • I don't know if it'll work for you since you said regular excedrin makes it worse, but I take Excedrin Migraine, paired with complete darkness, complete quiet and sleeping on an incline (laying down makes mine worse).

    Hope you feel better!

  • I take prescription Relpax for my migraines. But during my 2ww I use vicks and hot/cold packs on my forehead and behind my neck. Hope that helps
