Milk supply is gone...Help Please!

I got very sick over the weekend and ended up in the emergency room because of dehydration. I was so dehydrated that i quite making milk. I'm not willing to give up breastfeeding yet, so I'm having my DS nurse and then feeding him formula. I'm so afraid that my milk wont come back or if it does that he will be so used to formula that he wont wont my breast milk. If anyone can offer some advice i would appreciate it! Thank you in advance!!!

  • I don't know how true this is, so don't quote me, but I've heard breast milk is sweeter than formula, s given the choice, babies prefer BM to formula. Hopefully once your supply comes back baby won't have any problem taking BM.

  • Pump every hour if you can in addition to nursing to get your supply up- even if you don't get anything from pumping, it will stimulate your body to make more milk. Also, there's a supplement called Mother's milk or something like that that has fenugreek in it. That has helped me more than just fenugreek itself, which you can also get in capsule or tea form.
  • i would stop supplementing and just nurse your baby while monitoring for signs of dehydration (dark/strong smelling urine fewer wet diapers)
