Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Haha, I put my daughter in boy's pants!

So, my mom bought Tegan a really cute Halloween shirt and she bought her a pair of black pants to go with the shirt. Both items are the Jumping Beans brand from Kohls. I was so excited that it was cool enough yesterday to have her wear her cute long sleeve shirt and pants. Well, I get her home from daycare and I notice that her pants have two "lines" down the side of the leg and that they are a rather "boxy" type fit.

So, I looked up boys pants on Kohls and guess what I find??? Yep! My mom had accidentally (I know it wasn't on purpose) picked out boys pants, lol!

Here's a link to the pants:

  • Who cares?

I shop in the boys side all the time, I get sick and tired of everything pink and purple.  It's not like you're setting her up to be a cross dresser.

Bah! I wasn't upset about the situation. I just found it humorous.

  • I think those pants are totally unisex when it comes to plain colors....I wouldnt worry about it.  I would only be worried if I had glittery pants on my DS!! haha!

Oh yeah, she'll definitely be wearing them again. They are comfy, fit her fine and don't really look like boy's pants, unless you look really closely at them and have an understand of the difference between infant boy and infant girl pants.

Yeah, DS's godmother put him in a tinkerbell costume...but it was too small, so it was just a big green sparkly tutu over his camouflage pants! I thought it was hysterical though.

  • Is there really a difference in fit between infant boys and girls clothing?  It's not like baby girls have curves at this point that would require a certain cut of pant.  Or vice versa.

  • I've put DD in boys pants before because I just wanted a plain grey pant. Everything for girls is pink, it can be a challenge sometimes to find something that is a more neutral color in the girl section.
  • Is it a big deal? My son wore girl tights tonight for his halloween costume.. Not a big deal to me..

Baby girl pants tend to be cut more narrow through the thigh with a flare at the bottom of the pant. Baby boy pants tend to have more of a straight or "boxy" cut and are the same width at the thigh and the bottom. Also, to pp, I've already stated several times that I don't care if she wears boys pants and I plan on having her wear them again. I just thought the situation was humorous. Obviously the humor was lost on theBump.
