1st year photo book...online or scrapbook?

I really need to make DS's 1st year photo book.  Did you make yours online, if so, from where?  I've made books for gifts from Shutterfly before and was pretty happy with it.  Or did you make it by hand as a scrapbook?  I cannot decide which I want to do...  It seems so time consuming to upload all the pics to Shutterfly, since I only uploaded some.

I really need to get it done before DS2 comes along!  Suggestions on getting started and where?  TIA

ETA: if you ordered one online, which type of cover?  hard/soft/leather/etc.?

  • I have a shutterfly book in progress. I'm excited to add my October and Halloween pages next week since it'll be November!

  • I made a scrapbook by hand. I had so much fun doing it. I always looked forward to going to the scrapbook store and choosing different papers, stickers, cutouts, etc.  I made him a first year scrapbook, and I will also make him one from now until he is in preschool. Then another for elementary school, another fo rmiddle school and another for high school. I plan on doing this for all of my kids. But I LOOOVEEE to scrapbook. It can get a bit expensive is the only downfall.
  • I made a One Year Video Montage on here.  I love it!  Every time I watch it I tear up.  But otherwise I would make a Shutterfly book before an actual scrapbook (those take FOREVER).  I did one for our wedding pictures and I'll never do it again.

  • I'm doing DD's on Shutterfly.  They have the fast upload so once they have the pics it auto adds them to the layout you selected.

Walgreens has a feature that uploads the picture by date, which would help with organization.

  • I used Walmarts for year one, and am doing year two through them. Love it!

  • I'm working on books in Shutterfly and have already made an ABC book with them. I love them.

  • I used to scrapbook vacation photos before I had DD. However, I do not think I would ever finish an actual scrapbook if I tried now. I like how photobooks don't take up your entire kitchen table and how I can make multiple copies if I like. I have only made one photobook so far and it was from Shutterfly. I am currently working on another photobook in Shutterfly. Whatever you decide have fun!

  • I started a scrapbook for DS but ended up letting it slide for so long that now as he's turned one, I have A MILLION pictures to print and crop and organize.  It's waaaay cheaper and easier timewise to do it online.  I did a SHutterfly one and it ended up being lik 75 pages - but since they have sales all the time it only cost like $82 bucks.

If you have the time, patience, and money to do a scrabbook do it, they're fun. If not go for the next best thing and do one online.
