Babies: 9 - 12 Months

"I like it when they cry, it makes them tired"

MIL actually said this yesterday.  Oh and I am the weird one for refusing to let DS cry in the pnp while we all ate dinner.  She seriously said "we don't mind, just leave him".  Umm, no thanks.

She wonders why I will not let him stay overnight at her house.  This is just the latest in a string of incidents that have me seriously doubting her child care abilities

Re: "I like it when they cry, it makes them tired"

  • Well of course crying makes them tired...it exhausts them. Doesn't mean its good to do it. Now I do put DD down in her crib and let her CIO for 5 mins or less if she's already tired and won't go to sleep, but just putting her down in the pnp during dinner for no good reason? Crazy.

  • Wow!  I did not know we had the same MIL.  :)

    That is absurd.

  • Wow. I probably would not let her watch my child at all. Then again, we haven't let DD cry it out yet, so if anybody did, I would be pissed. How come DS couldn't join everybody during dinner?
  • I guess she thought it would be easier on me if I didn't have to tend to him while eating.  I had a MUCH more enjoyable dinner with DS happy and on my lap than I would with him sad and crying in the pnp!

I don't have a problem with CIO per se - we haven't had to do it because we were blessed with a great sleeper.  But it wasn't like he was due for a nap or anything.  There was no reason for it

  • There's no way I would've enjoyed dinner if DS was crying when he could have been happy in someone's lap!
  • Well, hell, you could have him build an addition on the house. That should exhaust him, too. Doesn't mean it's a good idea. Nitwit.
  • Well that and she raised a racist. THAT would make me concerned about her parenting abilities and influence.

I have no idea what this is in reference to, but my husband most certainly is NOT a racist

  • Eagles! Sorry I got you mixed up with the poster before me! No you have not had any posts about how your husband throws out the n word regularly. Lorifalce has. So sorry.
  • I figured you had me confused with someone else!  Thank you for clarifying!
