do you "make" the crib like you would a bed?

Now that DS is older and bigger, i wonder if i should make an attempt to make the crib like a bed. What I mean by that is tuck in a blanket around the bottom and see if he will actually sleep under it. It's getting a bit chilly at night and he never, ever keeps his blanket on (although I must put it on him before leaving the room at bedtime). Does anyone do this successfully?

  • We had to switch my son to a regular bed early, but he NEVER sleeps under a blanket.  He's just too restless.  So I just dress him warmer, and then don't worry about it.

  • We don't tuck my daughter's blankets in.  They are not big enough.  We use the crib comforter and 2 homemade blankets that are around the same size as the comforter.  My daughter moves around a lot though.

  • DD sleeps under a blanket but I don't tuck it around the mattress.  That would just be too much work, trying to reach over the side to tuck it in.

  • yes. when DS gets up we fold his blankets and then put all his animals back in the crib corners.

  • I dont make DD's bed, but when I straighten up her room I do fold her blankets and set them on top of her mattress.

She does sleep under blankets, but she's a thrasher like me and it would probably be more trouble than it's worth to really "fix" her bed and tuck anything in.

  • We put a pillow in his crib a few weeks back... kind of to get him ready for a bed.  We tried a blanket too... but he balled it up and slept on top of it.

  • yes - we do this! it works really well, and i think he likes the secure feeling of being tucked in at night (i always did). i pull the blankets up to his shoulders, and he usually wakes up with them no lower than his back. so, pretty good!
