So, I have always wanted to get a bikini wax. I have coarse, black hair and always, always get razor burn and ingrown hairs. NO MATTER WHAT. Plus, in some areas, even after I shave, there are still black "roots" that show under the skin. I have tried all the different lotions, creams, etc out there. None of it does anything to really help. And will NEVER again try Veet. That was pretty brutal. So, on to my question...
For those of you who have had one or get them regularly, how much does it hurt? I get my eyebrows waxed and it doesn't really hurt at all, but I know that is a much more sensitive area. Does it get easier each time? Does it make your hair finer over time?
(BTW, sorry if that was too descriptive about my lady parts. LOL!)
Re: NBR: Bikini wax?
U sounds like we have very similar hair issues, coarse black hair that is still there even when I shave! I used to get regular bikini waxes. It definetly hurts like a mother f-er but I think its worth it. Beware though you may get some ingrowns which are super annoying. It definetly makes the hair finer over time if you keep it up.
I have switched to laser hair removal (pre-pg) and I would totally recommend it over anything else.
I got the brazilian wax pretty much every 4-6 weeks for 7 yrs and they are the best thing since...coffee. Not sliced bread cause I don't like bread.
For me the pain is not the worst part, the cost is. I will admit the few pulls on your actual "lips" hurt for a sec, or sting actually. But shaving is probably more painful.
I also get ingrown hairs and bumps, etc. I hate shaving! The best part about waxing for me was that after getting it done regularly, my hair was softer, lighter and sparser(sp?)
I would do it if you have the money. It is about 60 dollars per time + tip here in Northern CA.
I have been waxing for years now, and will NEVER go back to shaving. I swear by it and its honestly addiciting! It may hurt the first few times, esp. now being pregnant, but after a few sessions you get used to it. (Being Italian, I hear you about the course dark hair!)
Even preggers I continue to go monthly. Hope this helps
The pain is way more intense than the eyebrow wax. Especially right before your period. And I got more ingrown hair than I hoped. I switched to laser too.
Kensbride: did you stop the laser for your pregnancy? I've heard from my midwife that it's safe to continue but I would love other opinions...
