wait, why are you DEFENDING a post where you're supposed to get flamed?? Isn't this what we expected? And why is no one flaming this drunken 9-month pregnant lady? I fed my baby wine and beer! lol
I want to be induced so I know when Miles is getting here. I had a baby about a year ago, recently moved 9+ hours away from anyone my son knows, and therefore will probably have to go through labor alone. No one will be able to make it in time especially if my labor is like my last. Obviously I want to be 38 weeks plus. Go ahead and flame me.

haha fair enough! And I can't flame you, I have had some wine here and there
Saturday night at a restaurant I was sipping on a glass of red wine. H was getting beers off the mile-long beer list. I sampled a sip of each of his beers. by the time I was 3/4 done with my glass of wine, I realized I was feeling just a wee bit tipsy so I stopped drinking. go ahead, Flame Me.
I will flame you...I think it's ridiculous to be so cavalier about your child's well being. I feel sorry for the baby born to such a selfish mother.

I also feel bad for her husband, lets not forget him... he lost a sip of each one of his beers!

This, plus her post on UO being:
I agree that when I read birth stories and they're like "I got my
epi at 7-9 cm" I'm like WTF did you do THAT for? It's almost over!
and I'm really glad to read that caring for a newborn isn't all
that hard. I'm organized, prepared, and knowledgable (and have a
brain), so I already figured I would have an easier time than the usual
woman.
Really? You're worried about an epi but not about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome? And then you go on to say that you have a brain (in comparison to the "usual woman).... Methinks that might be the tipsy-ness speaking.

Yet you preach about epidurals being harmful to babies....

I'm getting induced a week early because our insurance deductible is $6,000, and if I am in the hospital on Jan 1st, we'll be out for our 2010 AND 2011 deductibles.
This baby isn't worth $12k to me Go ahead, flame me!
Seriously? Did you really just say your baby isn't worth $12,000? Wow.
Definitely need a sarcasm font. I didn't mean that literally.
But yea, I was induced w/ my first a week early. How come "Just because" is an okay reason, but "so I'm not out another $6k" isn't??
Wait, did I flame for you being induced? *Looks back at post* Nope, I didn't.
Maybe re-wording what you wrote would come across better.
Apologies... should have said, "Having this baby in until 40 weeks isn't worth $12k, and my doctor is fine w/ inducing early!" Definitely do need a sarcasm font
Sure you'll spend more than 12k over time on your LO, but I'm with Soap1. I would be SCREWED if I had to spend it all at once out of pocket. To the point where the rent and bills might go unpaid and we'd be stressed out. I'm not necessarily in favor of elective inductions, but in this case, everyone's financial situation is different.

but I do have to correct something as I specifically stated in the F/O thread that Wife started re: epis (v. BF, bundlemes, etc.) that it was NOT because of baby's health. I have never preached that no epis were better for baby. I don't care about their welfare, remember?

Eep! I know you're joking but even so it makes my skin crawl to read that. I know there's all sorts of stuff out now saying that drinking wine while pregnant is not bad but I personally could never risk that. I've seen the effects of FAS and they are nothing to joke about!

Plus wow, your insurance sucks... you sure it doesn't switch over to the new year? Seems stupid for them to double charge you just because you happen to need care that day.

I would guess that most insurance companies start over at the new year with pregnancy.

Incidentally, I your dog. I've wanted a husky since forever ago, but DH is right.. he'd end up being the one walking it at 5am in the rain, lol.

It totally does suck, but I'm lucky to have insurance at all. I know there are lots of women without it! That makes options even more limited.

here you go...
I just had my baby shower on Saturday and it was big (lots of people, food, music and dancing)
...and I helped plan it... and most everyone knew I was involved
... and it was for my third child.
FUH-LAME AWAY!
